Sonikku comes riding back into the Lobster Theremin's tropical gardens with a flurry of sparkling, arpeggiator-driven ambient jams featuring three extended reworks from NTS regular Mobbs. 
Sonikku's originals apply a drier and skit-length pop approach to synth-based home listening. Building a borderline-saccharine melodic base to each track then upping the sheen with a tropical and twinkling production. Shots of balearic appear in 'Earth Temple', Christmas jingles echo from the depths of 'Diamond Dust', while 'Sky Garden' channels a more direct emotional palette of warm synthesizer heartbreak. 
Mobbs' approach is to allow each track to breathe around it's core strengths over a longer time frame, whilst enhancing and encouraging each element to make it's space and time to enter the track. The shifts and swaying structures turn shorter synth ideas into fully blown journeys that become hypnotic by the end. A soft, dream-like ride into bliss.

Marcel Vogel’s Amsterdam based label Lumberjacks in Hell arises once again with something raw, soulful, and extremely fresh for your listening pleasure. This time, they’ve tapped the deeply prolific Bristol-based house connoisseur Andy Compton, who’s had a long and venerable career both as a soloist and part of the legendary trio of The Rurals, and who’s also released more than 31 albums and over 135 EPs. This project sees Andy join forces with the African artist Shamrock and the Swahili vocalist Asali for four sun-drenched boogie tracks that they recorded in South Africa.

“Nifanyeje,” the projects stand-out track is a slow groover with one hell of a bassline. Adding to the “smoothness” is what seems to be a suite of live instrumentation including organic percussion, gentle guitar, funky brass, light key stabs, and a gorgeous, airy vocal. A track like this demands you to chill. Don’t listen to this in the morning, you won’t get anything done for the rest of the day. If I didn’t have a job to do I’d roll a joint and listen to it 100 times. Anyways, just added this burner to my “Rosé Season” playlist on Spotify. Hand me my slips, fam.

Bunny Chow, the 31st EP from Lumberjacks in Hell, couldn’t be a better release. It drops on May 7th, and will likely soundtrack your summer. On May 7th, support the musicians who appear on this record by shelling out some cash for the wax. You won’t be sorry, and you might get laid if you play it.

One of music’s most distinctive vocalists collaborates with one of electronic music’s most respected producers on a candle-lit “weightless power ballad” for 2018, released on Local Action ahead of a series of new DAWN releases.

Since breaking through as part of the cult r&b group Dirty Money, DAWN (aka Dawn Richard) has carved her own unique path as a solo vocalist. Her Blackheart album was FACT Mag’s #1 album of the year, and was in Best Album of 2015 charts by Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Vogue, LA Times and more, while 2016 saw her become the first ever artist to perform live in 360 degrees on YouTube, and join Adult Swim as a curator and designer.

In November 2016 DAWN released her latest album Redemption, which featured on Best of 2016 lists from The Quietus, PopMatters, Vulture, Pitchfork and PASTE, and saw her ranked as one of Rolling Stone’s 10 Musical Renegades of 2016 with Beyonce, Chance the Rapper and more.

Mumdance has built one of electronic music’s most influential sounds - both through his releases on XL Recordings and his own Different Circles label. His singles with Novelist ‘Take Time’ & ‘1 Sec’ defined a new chapter in grime and featured high in Best Tracks of 2014/2015 lists from Resident Advisor, Mixmag, FACT, Noisey, Dummy and more, while he recently scored an official advert for Nike’s Nikelab/ACG collection.

Stripping things down to the very bare bones, ‘Guardian Angel’ has all the signifiers of of a classic Mumdance production, but crucially this is the first time he has applied his aesthetic to real instruments, enlisting a string section, a grand piano and electric guitar to flesh out his vision, resulting in his grandest music to date. Recorded in London together, the release sees these two unique musical forces come together for a soaring anthem that draws from both artists’ experimental tendencies but also aims for the sky.
