This was a CD that i did in 2001, representing the sort of stuff i was banging out at the London Squat raves around the turn of the century.. Loads of dancemania mixed up with bits and pieces of full fat techno with a few double copy mashups and loads of scratching.. Sold quite a few of them through the record shop that i worked in in Camden (Dragon Discs) but i thought i'd lost it until i was sorting through my basement today and found a solitary CD.. So hope you enjoy.. This one's for the sunday morning squat party crew :-)

If there's one thing you need to know before listening to this mix then it's this: Lerosa does not f**k about.

The Italian producer and disc jockey remains an unrivalled force amidst outsider electronics and doesn't buy into hype or false pretenses. Based in Dublin he has steadily released music prominently for over ten years and has appeared on the likes of Uzuri, Ostgut Ton and Idle Hands amongst many more. His sound is always rough and ready, drawing for the experimental and abstract whilst challenging the preconceptions and social constructs of house and electronic music at every possibility available. A keen hardware enthusiast he has a workrate which is hard to rival and this much is clear through the sheer volume of music that he has released in what is a relatively short period of time. 

His most recent album was released via Acid Test, a sub label of Los Angeles based record label Absurd Recordings. The "Bucket Of Eggs" LP is perhaps Leopold's finest work to date, showcasing an eclectic, thoughtful approach to music that is at times chaotic and coarse. It channels his humour and persona with intrigue and leaves the listener wanting more and more. 

We invited him to record a mix for the site, a contribution which is long overdue.

Spending a decade behind a record store’s desk can only mean you’ve amassed some serious knowledge, and Danielle Doobay’s stint at Phonica – one of the world’s most formidable dance music retailers – got her well immersed within the sounds she now pursues full time as a DJ. As Danielle, the music she spins is often deep, dark and packed with surprises, owing to a longtime love of labels like Hessle Audio, Hemlock and Tectonic that she grew up on in Bristol as well as the more angular sounds of techno, electro and house that she came to discover later. Based in Bristol but frequently in London, Danielle is a resident on NTS and co-runs DJ workshops for womxn via her Mix Nights series that she founded in 2016, which has taught over 100 people to mix over the last three years. She’s also a talented illustrator, designing posters for the likes of Livity Sound. “I haven’t had a mix out for a while so I wanted to do something a bit different this time and give people an insight into what I play in the club,” Danielle says. “So here’s a power hour featuring all my current favourite club tunes, recorded in one take. Hope you enjoy!” Volleying between acid, EBM-inflected cuts and the deeper reaches of house and techno, Danielle proves exactly why she’s become such an important selector in the UK.
