Turbo explores the future primitive with NEW JACK TRIBAL. First instalment in this new series comes courtesy of emerging Canadian talent: @Clariannorth, @Hreno, @MikeMind and label A&R @VonParty.

Bridging the gap between the psychedelic world-beat of newly launched sister-label Multi Culti and Turbo’s forward-looking techno and house stylings, these four tracks offer distinct yet consistently straightforward takes on the tribal trance-out. 

Visionquest-native Clarian’s icy-cool ‘Inuit’ kicks things off with a super hypnotic groove… the perfect soundtrack to an acid-ice-fishing trip gone right and an optimal DJ tool for the very early or very late hours. 

Berlin-resident and Canadian ex-pat Hreno (Fur Trade, Autochtone, etc) is next up with ‘Tree Trunks,’ an expertly assembled rhythm track built on top of a bubbling bassline sure to get the party rolling. 

Turbo and Multi Culti A&R Thomas Von Party takes the party from the forest into the jungle with ‘Pygmy Funk,’ an overtly primitive journey built on wood knocks, bird sounds and the deep throb of tom and bongo. 

Finally, the supremely-talented Mike Mind turns in a downtempo bomb that will highlight your cave-party playlist.

Craig Bratley has been carving out a distinct and somewhat peculiar discography since his debut release ‘Free Music’ landed in 2004. The foundations of his tracks are often weighty and driving, leaving the outer layers to go intricately wild.  

Andrew Weatherall stands tall among British dance music’s most prominent figures. He’s been killing it for decades, and shows no signs of stopping. ‘Play The Game (Andrew Weatheral remix)’ stretches the track out into a mesmerising, 10-minute masterpiece that goes both minimal and maximal as it traverses through spidery percussive lines and crashing guitar chords. A new Optimo Music Disco Plate and the debut release from Feon. When these tracks first came my way I instantly knew they were ripe for a release on the label. Original, idiosyncratic, psychedelic, full of imagination and featuring a couple of dancefloor hits, how could I resist? Also, “The Sun is High” was surely destined to become a sun-blissed summer anthem…..
Feon has a few things he’d like to say about this EP :
“I wrote these tracks in a manic ten-day session, shortly after an unravelling ayahuasca ceremony, which is evidenced in the psychedelic sound of the first track in particular. Upon reflection there is something of a primal quality to “The Sun Is High”, we were all sun worshippers at one point in our ancient history. The vocals are my voice stacked thirty odd times in different harmonies, then put through a space echo, and they're followed by some gratuitous Moog noodling to boot! For use at the beach party.
The flip goes into darker more experimental territory, with “Holland Fly By” taking clear inspiration from an old iMPLOG track, and “Without Sound” getting stranger still, the vocal refrain's mournful, tense landscape interrupted by boisterous drums.
Its a real joy and honour that I can add something to the Optimo sound world as it is one that has given me great pleasure over the years.”

Alvaro Cabana's Rotten City Records goes from strength to strength with artists like Justin Robertson and Timothy J Fairplay on their roster.  Their new EP " Rotten Citizens Vol​.​3 " with 10 rotten citizens on board which includes third outing debuts Tel Aviv resident Coobe, with his first release on Rotten City Records "Ashmadai". 
A slow mo melter reminiscent of fellow Israeli Compatriots, the Red Axes.  Live instrumentation dances with analogue synths, a spoken hook and a bit of saxophone thrown in for good measure. Madrid meets Tel Aviv in this wonky warmer which looks to be the beginning of a bright bright future for Mikey Horesh, AKA Coobe.

Bawrut is a Madrid based, Italian born producer and DJ. 

Heavily influenced by the work of Chicago pioneers, the established European teachers and every sound he can find on the internet or in digging sessions, Bawrut’s taste toes a wonderfully balanced line between classics and brand new tracks.
 
Beginning by delivering his own music, mixtapes and goodies from his online headquarters, Silencio, his first forays into production received a warm welcome from a selection of DJs around the world before the online platform Ransom Note decided to launch their own label with a 12” of his material. 

Made up of music taken from Bawrut’s digital Silencio releases EP01 and EP02, R$N001 boasts the tracks ‘Ciquita’ and ‘1234’ which have been supported by people like Jackmaster, Axel Boman, Erol Alkan and Man Power. The Balearic godfather Alfredo has aslo shown his appreciation for the release and Bill Brewster introduced ‘Ciquita’ as a “crazy, mid ‘80s, slightly demented, Spanish/acid type of track we used to played in Ibiza”.
 
Mixmag, DJ Mag, Test Pressing and Data Transmission have also proclaimed R$N001 as one of the freshest releases of 2016 so far.
