Matani Qa is a high-risk ecosystem. Dense jungle foliage chokes the lowlands, giving way to steep cliffs and waterfalls further inland. The air is thick with humidity, and the constant buzz of insects and calls of unseen creatures create a disorienting soundscape. Ancient ruins, overgrown with vines and moss, are scattered throughout, remnants of a civilization lost to time and monster attacks. The River Qa-Cea cuts through the region, a fast-flowing waterway that connects the deeper jungle to the coastal areas. Its banks are often unstable, and prone to landslides after heavy rains, and its depths are rumored to harbor dangerous aquatic predators. This combination of dense vegetation, treacherous terrain, and hidden dangers makes Matani Qa a challenging environment even for experienced hunters.

The human presence in Matani Qa is centered around Dunmeqia, a village built high in the canopy. This unique architecture provides a degree of safety from ground-based monsters, but it also makes the village vulnerable to aerial attacks. The villagers are skilled hunters and gatherers, relying on the rainforest for their sustenance. They have a deep understanding of the local flora and fauna, using their knowledge to craft weapons, armor, and medicine.
