In 1999 I saw Blame play in Boston, and he began his set with Seba's "Predator", then on dubplate. It was unlike anything any one of us had heard before. My mates and I looked at each other, transfixed, as the dark, tribal vibe filled the room. It was a long ways from what we knew as "atmospheric jungle", and Blame surprised us with a heavyweight set that included the amen crusher "Point Four".

Since then, few tunes like "Predator" have followed it. Some releases on 720 by Odyssey and Deep Blue briefly carried the torch, and there was a wave of "tribal" half-time dnb in the 2010s, but otherwise whatever trail "Predator" blazed has remained threadlike and obscure, like the path in this mix's artwork.

This mix follows that trail to see where it could go. It isn't explicitly "tribal" so much as mystical and psychedelic. This thin rope of a trail traverses a good amount of dub territory, passing briefly through France, where artists Hydrangea and Aerae ply the atmospheric techno spectrum. This is a journey of intuition, where mystery lies around each corner and destination is not a concern.

The third single from my nine-track album dropping on the Winter Solstice.

This song was created in the mountains of Peru, in my garden, inspired by the mimosa trees surrounding my studio window. I then sent it to VOLO, who continued the work in the mountains of northern Thailand—carrying the beautiful essence of both these lands.

It originally began the day after a dream of vibrant pink iridescent light emanating from the flowers. Giving thanks to the entire family of Mimosa trees in the world.

Thank you, family, for all of the support on this path. I send love to you all from the mountains of Costa Rica.

You are listening to a mix of songs and sounds from above and below ground. 

The Tesoro Escondido Reserve protects over 2000 hectares of primary forest in the Chocó lowlands, a global biodiversity hotspot. This area in the province Esmeraldas is highly threatened by anthropogenic activities such as timber extraction, monocrops and mining concessions.

The reserve protects one of the last healthy populations of Ecuadorian brown-headed spider monkeys as well as other endangered species such as the Great Green Macaw, the Banded-Ground Cuckoo, the Harpy Eagle, the magnificent jaguar, pumas and an incredible diversity of herpetofauna.

The reserve collaborates with farmer families who offer their houses to host visitors, offering a unique experience in rural Ecuador.

The Tesoro Escondido reserve works on:

- Scientific research together with national and international universities, scientists, students and our parabiologist team
- Permanent environmental education programme in 10 communities
- Community projects such as agroecological gardens and reforestation
- Support to projects such as ecotourism and small chocolate businesses in local communities
