I'm picturing a space bounty hunter taking off in a spaceship to chase his rival across the galaxy.

Can't Escape

I made this for Bop Bop, a songwriting challenge. This week's theme was Resurrection. 

I wrote the lyrics, they were inspired by a character in The Crossing by Cormac McCarthy and also Radiohead.


Lyrics:

The murky vacuum of the astral plane briefly depressurized the nitrogen pockets in the cartilage of his jaw
At once, the pop was novel and quickening, at twice, the man’s eyes, one by one sucked from their slots, and dangled before him wet and strange
He dared not attempt to reseat the terrible tactile stems, but rather gaped at the split toppled horizon, rapidly disorienting the structure of the universe with each bounce
He intook air directly into his throat like a surfacing whale as the sky grew dim and colorless and then vanished forever

He arose from the cracked soil, true as any mycelium had ever manifested. 
For he was blind like a mushroom, so hatted like a mushroom, and now too deadly to man 
He swiveled his face to the setting sun by reptilian heat sense, jaw slacked like a monk in ancient prayer
And he marched, as the earliest beings had, to follow it.

I wrote this song for Bop Pop, this week's theme was "orienteering." 

Lyrics: 

I can’t navigate this god damn city
It must’ve bene built accidentally
And I don’t mean organic
I’m feeling manic
Every time I look at a map

South street runs east to west, but it’s south of north street 
Which I guess curves like a sine wave around major sights
My compass says I’m going north by West by northwest 
And I know that ocean avenue should run along the ocean 
But It’s skewed because the ocean is at the end of the road, 
And they got reclaimed land, which is the cool kind of land fill.  

I can’t navigate this god damn city

When I look at these god damn bus routes

The busses are always a random amount of late. 
Scheduled on the hour but two come at three thirty
The busses sometimes will blow right by you
If you don’t take off your hat and wave them down
I once chased a bus two city blocks
And only after yelling that they skipped my stop
Did the driver open the doors and acknowledge
The lack of cloud cover on this sunny-ass day.
