Olympic torchbearer Jeremy Adams is a retired engineer from Taunton. He's been nominated to carry the Olympic torch for his dedication to helping the charity Parkinson's UK. He was diagnosed with the disease and spends his time visiting care homes to help others in a similar situation. 

"I was very surprised, they must have had thousands of nominations!"

One of the Olympic torchbearers is 20-year-old Daniel Weston. His father nominated him to carry the flame because although he has autism, Daniel has been busy raising money for charity and competing in Brtish Cycling disability races. We spoke to him after he had carried the flame!

Elfed Morgan from Y Felinheli in North Wales was nominated to carry the Olympic flame for raising money for his local neo-natal unit, following the stillbirth of his son. 

"I think that's why I was chosen. It's a sad story."

Gary Bentley has been nominated to carry the Olympic flame through Manchester. He set up a charity, "Jamie's Fund" in the memory of his daughter who died ten years ago, and has since raised money for a local primary school and children's hospital. 

"She went off to Brownies and never came back..."

Justine Sheils is 41 years old and is one of the ambassadors for Cancer Research UK, raising awareness for skin cancer. She was nominated to be an Olympic torchbearer for her work on the SunSmart campaign. She carried the flame through Knotty Ash on June 1st 2012. 

"I'm always told there's 'light at the end of the tunnel'. Hopefully this is my light."

At just 17 years old, Holly Hamill has been chosen as an Olympic torchbearer in Belfast. She suffers from Cystic Fibrosis and was selected to be a part of the British National Rhythmic Gymnastics team for Gymnastics and Movement for People with a Disability, where she has won countless medals. 

"Everything else pales in comparison to carrying the torch."

Andrew Falconer - "Drew" to his friends - has been nominated to carry the Olympic torch through Brechin in Scotland. As well as being almost completely blind, Drew was also knocked down by a car last year and ended up hospitalized. This doesn't stop him raising money for charity though - often in weird and wacky ways! 

"I felt a real sense of pride. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity."

Andrea Thompson was nominated to be a torchbearer after she set up a charity, the Toma Fund, in memory of her 15 year old son Jordan who died of Leukemia. Andrea carried the Olympic flame through Newcastle upon Tyne on 15 June 2012. 

"That's what Jordan would want me to do - to continue his good work"

Seventy-five year old Dot Fraser was nominated to be an Olympic torchbearer for Lincoln. In 2010, Dot won the silver medal for the 100m and 200m at the European Masters Track and Field Championships in Hungary. Here's her story. 

"To think I saw that in 1948 and now I'm taking part this year, it's wonderful."

Lynda from Tower Hamlets in London spoke to us on World Have Your Say about the use of the phrase 'choc ice' which was used in a tweet directed at Ashley Cole, after he defended John Terry who was appearing in court accused of making racist comments. A choc ice is a chocolate coated vanilla ice-cream. Rio Ferdinand tweeted approvingly about the phrase, calling it ''classic''. He says the phrase is a slang term for someone who is being fake, but some have called it racist.
