My name is Avishek Choudhury, I am a UK based singer-songwriter from Blackpool (Lancashire). I have been active as a singer-songwriter since June 2012. I spent 3 years living in Barnsley (South Yorkshire) for university, before moving back to my hometown of Blackpool in Jan 2017.

Gleefully sharing their moniker with an infamous old school South American gang, South Yorkshire’s Alvarez Kings summon pop power through timeless analog synth and guitar magic. Brothers Simon [vocals, guitar] and Paul Thompson [bass, keys, backup vocals], Aidan Thompson [guitar, keys]— have quietly built up an international buzz since their 2012 formation.

BBC Radio proclaimed “No Resolve” the “Single of the Year,” while they impressed audiences at Firefly, Summefest and Isle of Wight Festival in addition to show-stopping stints on the Vans Warped Tour in 2013 and 2015 and support slots on tours with Melanie Martinez, PVRIS, Three Eye Blind and Switchfoot. 

Their 2015 EP, Fear To Feel, expanded their foothold in the U.S. Spotify featured the title track on coveted playlists such as The Indie Mix and Ultimate Indie Playlist, notching 40K streams in less than 12 hours and eventually amassing over 1M and counting. Meanwhile, they drew acclaim from Billboard, Huffington Post, and more. 

Preceded by the introductory focus track “Sleepwalking Pt.II” their full-length debut, Somewhere Between [Sire/Warner Bros. Records], was released June 2017. Produced by Grammy Award winning producer Carlos De La Gaza of Paramore and Wolf Alice fame the album went on to cement the band as a serious contender for their unique brand of indie-pop gems and a growing army of dedicated fans around the world. The album was backed up with headline tours in the US, Europe and the UK. 

Fast forward to 2019 and Alvarez Kings are set to release their brand new single Invincible in May 2019, which they described as "Phase II" of their journey with a host of other singles set to follow in the interim.

Much anticipated second album Year By Year, was written by Matt Taylor and produced in Sheffield by Samuel Taylor and features a cast of musicians including Sam Taylor (Ophelia, Dead Like Harry), John Redgrave (Dead Like Harry) and Robin Baker (Dead Like Harry).
After performing the songs from the first album regularly for around three years and having these songs featured on 16,000 digital jukeboxes in cafes and bars around the UK, and having one track featured on Channel 4’s Hollyoaks, Anytown took a break from the live circuit while Matt set about writing a new album. “The songs on this album are very personal and are about the journey I have been on over the past four years, where I met my wife Abbi and had our two children Archie and Ivor.”
 
The final song on the album, Edith Cavell, was written on a beach in Norfolk. Matt explains, “We believe my great grandfather - Private T.C. Scott of the Norfolk Regiment - was one of the British soldiers who was helped to escape from occupied Belgium by Nurse Edith Cavell in World War One. She hid him in a barrel of apples. In the song I reflect on the fact that, without her sacrifice (Edith Cavell was executed by the German army), I wouldn’t exist and neither would my children.
 
Year by Year has been recorded over a period of three years with Matt’s brother Samuel producing and engineering the album as well as performing most of the instrumentation. Dead Like Harry’s John Redgrave and Robin Baker have also been involved in the project with Robin providing bass guitar and John mixing the album and performing the piano arrangement for Edith Cavell.
