’Outer Space Connection’ is a jazzy gem of a track featuring soulful vocals from Steve Spacek & cosmic production touches from ‘disco minimalist’ Harvey Sutherland. Assembling an elite group of remixers to rework the track, Inskwel and BBE are proud to give this unique song its moment in the sun.
First up, much hyped Italian duo The Mixtapers (Sonar Kollektiv) fully embrace the acid-jazz feel of the original track, taking it into outer space with jazzy keys, smooth pads and a slinky bass-line. French-Chilean ‘amplified soul’ artist Medline is next, re-imagining ‘Outer Space Connection’ as if The Soulsonic Force were jamming with Frank Zappa’s band. Australian DJ/producer Edseven supplies a low-key broken beat version, introducing eerie, off-kilter chords and dubby vocal effects into the mix. Last but definitely not least, Punk rocker turned new-wave/indie pop producer Worldwild delivers an arresting and nostalgic rework, summoning up the glorious 80s with its tight guitar licks and emotive synth chords.

Ahead of this year's Launch Party in Ulm, Germany on 20th May - Depth Range members HP.Ritch, Re:Draft and Kid Kun have come together to present a mix for our 2017 Friends and Family Series.

Depth Range is a collective of different artists, founded in 2012 in South Germany/ Ulm. Their music focuses on Bass music with the influence of Footwork, Juke, Jungle, Hip Hop, Drum & Bass and and everything in between inspired by UK underground culture.
The crew leaders ReDraft, HP.Ritch, Kid Kun, DJ SRP, CtoP and K.B work together with different artists and crews from all over the world. 
Today the Depth Range Crew is a well established crew in Ulm ́s underground scene which provides a space for different projects and promoters of several bass shows. So far, they have released and performed alongside world class artists such as Alix Perez, Halogenix, Fixate, Jon1st, Dub Phizix & Strategy Hyroglifics and many more. 
After the huge success of the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Outlook Launch Parties with Dub Phizix & Strategy, Halogenix, Moresounds and Danny Scrilla and have returned to host another launch party in 2017.

Following Sabrina Malheiros' brand new album entitled "Clareia" out now on @faroutrecs comes three major remixes from three major players from the now multi-generational broken beat scene. We are very happy to present to you a remix from the legendary IG Culture, an early pioneer of the Broken Beat movement. 

Brazilian rhythms have always been a foundational influence on the broken-beat and future jazz movements, and this EP continues to explore these connections, a running theme throughout Far Out's 23 year history with Seiji, Mark Pritchard, Afronaught, Domu, Da Lata and Jazzanova being just a few of the names to have contributed to this particular avenue of the label's pantheon of dance music.

The joyful samba-soul in the title track of Sabrina Malheiros' latest album features the bass and keys of Brazilian Jazz-funk legends Azymuth, and is inspired by the quest for clarity in the face of difficult times; Clareia in Sabrina’s own words “means to clear, light, brighten or illuminate”. But this remix EP beautifully ruptures the clarity in style, each crafting the breezy Brazilian beats into their own distinct brand of future-thinking club-funk... these beats were made to be broken!

The second EP in our ‘Rhemi Choice Cuts' series sees the London duo of Ziggy Funk & Neil Pierce unleash four more of their  nest productions on vinyl for the  rst time. At the forefront of London’s nascent Soulful House revival (although many would argue the sound never left our nation’s capital), both artists are no strangers to the BBE label; Neil Pierce releasing previously as one half of ‘Fanatix’ moniker, while Ziggy’s 2016 solo EP Red Light Syndrome is followed by album ‘Boxer’s Fracture’ in May 2017.
Rhemi have seen a meteoric rise over the last couple of years thanks to rock solid production,  nely tuned musicality and a series of dynamite vocal collaborations. Personally choosing a handful of tracks to be issued on vinyl for the very  rst time, the duo are thrilled to share their best work on the format that started it all.
Choice Cuts Vol.2 commences with 2014 smash ‘Beat Within’, featuring infectious vocals from Cassius Henry; recently granted a new lease of life thanks to a white-hot remix by the mighty Opolopo. Next up comes a special down and dirty dub mix of ‘Everything Is Good’; a potent dance- oor workout, tested and approved in nightclubs the world over. Familiar to BBE fans since appearing on Kiko Navarro’s album ‘Everything Happens For A Reason’, London vocal duo Hanlei provide a vintage performance on feel-good anthem ‘Keep Dancing’, combining ‘club classic’ appeal with tight, modern production. Originally release on Rhemi’s 'Land Of Promise' E.P., ‘Freedom’ closes out the EP with a deep groove and warm, rhythmic stabs designed to hypnotise.
With another two volumes of ‘Choice Cuts’ on the way and a work-rate that shows no signs of slowing down, it’s safe to say we can expect a big year for the Rhemi boys.

Founded in 1996 by Peter Adarkwah, Barely Breaking Even (BBE Music) started life as a London club night, taking its name from the eponymous Disco record by the Universal Robot Band.

The label grew from the vibrant early 90's club scene with its first release, Stop & Listen compiled by Dr Bob Jones in 1996, opening the door to iconic series' such as All Back To Mine & Late Nite Tales.

A tonne of releases followed, ranging from Disco to Funk, Jazz to House. In the year 2000, the label celebrated Masters at Work's 10th Anniversary with a mighty box set that featured near 80 tracks.

A year later BBE Music spawned the Beat Generation Series of artist albums, notably introducing J Dilla (Welcome 2 Detroit) & a young Will.I.Am's first solo outing, alongside DJ Jazzy Jeff, Madlib & DJ Spinna, all of whom contributed to this seminal set of long players.

A quarter of a century and well over 500 titles later, having worked with Mark Ronson, Roy Ayers, Questlove, Hugh Masekela, DJ Premier, Dimitri from Paris, Joey Negro, Kon, RZA, Laurent Garnier, Black Coffee, DJ Shadow, David Rodigan and John Morales among many others, BBE Music looks to the future, celebrating its rich heritage while continuing to release a bounty of fresh titles.

The label’s most recent projects include an expansive reissue series from pioneering Nigerian label Tabansi, new imprint ‘Batakari’ in association with Boddhi Satva and the critically acclaimed ‘J Jazz’ Japanese Jazz multi-album project, not to mention the recent landmark 500th label release: a brand new version of 'Barely Breaking Even', featuring Leroy Burgess, Patrick Adams and Louie Vega.

In 2021 BBE Music is celebrating its 25th anniversary. To mark this milestone, the label is offering up some special projects, from the 20th Anniversary edition of J Dilla’s ‘Welcome 2 Detroit’, through David Bowie tribute album ‘Modern Love’, to a special new ‘Worldwide’ compilation from old friend Gilles Peterson.
