Breakbeat Paradise Recordings is back to drop another debut EP from the German producer duo Mined & Forrest consisting of Forrest Funk & Mined from Obba Select. They are both well-established names on their own with a large group of followers – known for their edits, mashups and funky DJ sets.

Inspired by classic funk, modern bass design and hiphop sampling they teamed up to bring their musical ideas together. Spending lots of time in the studio turning knobs and hitting keys, they now have a bunch of funky tunes ready to hit the dancefloors out there.

The EP kicks off with the groovy and catching title tune There It Is, which perfectly showcases their take on the ghetto funk sound. A steady beat with some clever hip hop samples and a great deal of musicality including a big middle passage of beautiful atmospheric sounds.  

On the next cut the duo takes us a little further back to the oldskool on the Funk Toxic banger. Toxic funky bass on a boom bap beat mixed with their chopped up hip hop vocal samples. 

Things are about to get serious on the 3rd jam on the EP which features Joker on the bass heavy Drugs tune. Heavy beats and big basslines is in center on this bad boy jam.

The title tune There It Is is finally getting the upmost funky party treatment from BBP’s very own Jayl Funk on the last track on the EP. A steady block rocking beat and twist up on the vocals is all it takes for Jayl Funk to make this his very own as he brings this EP home.

Well, it looks like that scurvy sea dog Pecoe is up to his old tricks again. This time he’s taken to the high seas with his pump action funk chucker. 
Leaving behind his beloved forest of funk, the man’s gone AWOL and he’s only hi-jacked a fishing Vessel fitted with speakers and a glitter ball on the bottom!

Currently he’s making his way through the Great Barrier Reef and grappling the helm in his Ninja Turtle board shorts. What’s his plan? Bringing new life to the once colourful corals with his signature big drummed, funk fuelled smashers! 
He’s been drinking Bacardi for 10 days straight. His cats have scuba gear on and are currently performing the Macarena to an unlikely crowd of Sea Gulls. What could possibly go wrong?

So, let’s get started replenishing the reefs with the power of The Vibe Vessel!

First up is “Kick it Fresh!” A delicious cut of uplifting funk, that slides unsuspectingly into synth growls and stabs that will bring smiles to thousands of species of fish. Currently pissed off at humans for ruining their once beautiful home hopefully this will cheer them up!

Now it’s time to move onto the Sting rays. Rumour has it they have a soft spot for classic funk and Quentin Tarantino flicks. As always Papa Pecoe has the remedy. Swooping in with “Jungle Hoodie” a solid portion of familiarity, coupled with different styles and energies to give the aquatic dance floors what they’re craving!

What’s this? There is life appearing? I thought he was cuckoo but Pecoe must be onto something! Let’s keep with the funk flavour and slam our foot on the accelerator as we slip into “That’s the Funk”. He Borrows Bootsy’s formula while adding several ingredients of his own, bringing a feel-good dance floor smasher to the masses of marine life!

These seas are certainly on the road to repair thanks to this treasure chest full of bangers! Last, but certainly not least Pecoe takes us by surprise with what can only be described as end of level boss music with “Open Up Your Mind” A 122 Bpm stomper that will leave sea cucumber crowds screaming for more in 2019!

Well that was quite a spectacle Pecoe, the boat is pumping, the Bacardi bottle is empty and the felines have sun stroke. Time to make a visit inland me thinks…. Until next time landlubbers, remember look after the ocean or Papa Pecoe will be after you!

Founded by Boe Pedersen (Dj BadboE) in Denmark, and now based in Florida. The label originates from the music website Breakbeat Paradise that has been running since 1996. Breakbeat Paradise is dedicated to breakers and electronic musicians within the style of music that we can loosely term as breakbeat. Developing and improving this website over the last 10 years to include everything from visitor music sharing, annual breakbeat contests, samplekits and discussion forum. We felt that going into digital music distribution would be a natural next step.

The music material on the Breakbeat Paradise website has over 1000 pieces of music. Breakbeat Paradise Recordings will  pick up the very best  “cream of the crop”, artists  and tunes and release them as digital downloads through Breakbeat Paradise Recordings  collaborative partners . We found digital distribution would match perfect with our cutting-edge funky breakbeat music and the fastest way from  the streets – to the listener and dancefloor!

With only exclusive vinyl and digital releases , we are always focused on the most important thing for us – the music! 

The music will span from traditional nu funk and funky breaks to more dancefloor oriented ghetto funk,  future funk and big beat as well as hip hop with a glitch and the more mellow side of the drum ‘n’ bass and nu breaks. The sound of Breakbeat Paradise is driven by an emphatic beat that is intended to form a leitmotif between the releases.

Even though releases from Breakbeat Paradise will be coming from different artists, we always uniform a sound by focusing within the genres of breakbeat.  Collaborators and musicians work close together on our label and we are always ensuring a brand of selective “state of the art“, quality and sound .

We will devote ourselves to deliver the phattest, funkiest and the biggest grooves to be found out there...
