Breakbeat Paradise Recordings is very pound to welcome back one of the Ghetto Funk scenes finest producers: B-Side for the second installment of his Party Bangers series. This time he’s teamed up with another heavyweighter – BBP’s very own BadboE to line up 4 big tunes designed for maximum dancefloor destruction!

Party Bangers Vol. 2 takes us on a musical journey through different areas of electronic funk: from the peak time ghetto funk bangers – over Reggae grooves, electro swing to end up with a disco anthem. The musicality plays a big role on these tunes and its easy to recognize both producers signature through-out this EP.        

The EP kicks off with a big electric funk bangers Funk Me Again, which takes elements from a classic funk jam and mixes it with some J5 party rap in a progressive ghetto funk arrangement. Rewind it Back takes on some catchy reggae summer grooves and slams on some big beats and wobble basslines. Do You Wanna Ride flips it around with some electro swing vibes to makes sure the party keeps on riding. Last but not least its time for B-Side & BadboE to Get Busy on an extended disco anthem. 7 mins of groovy disco goodness.

For those of you who trying to steer clear of the mash-ups or wants to do you own mixes, all 4 tunes comes in instrumental versions.

With Zane Lowe pedestalling the first glimpse into Bensley’s diverse soundscape, ‘Fandango’ was a precursor for this forthcoming debut. ‘Next Generation’ is a bold move; with drum & bass being a genre which has certainly stood the test of time, newcomers have incredibly big shoes to fill. However, Bensley incorporates an innovative and incredibly intricate set of production skills to hold a title of his own.

But what can you expect from an artist who was signed after sending a single demo to revered label head Andy C. That’s despite having no previous releases or having any other music available to stream online. He was somewhat of a mystery.
‘Fandango’ was that track. And it was premiered as a world exclusive on leading tastemaker Radio1, which followed with support from the likes of Mistajam on 1xtra, as well as DJs on both Kiss and XFM.

Already demonstrating his widespread appeal with just one track, his air of mystery is now about to be broken. He’s definitely an anomaly; being only nineteen and having impressed so many people.

‘Next Generation’ is a 10-track journey through an impressively diverse soundscape. Whether it’s half-time breakdowns or the incorporation if cross genre-pollination it shows an astounding ability which will not go unrecognised.
From the opening bars of ‘Wildfire’, to the softly spoken pads and atmospheric note arpeggios of ‘Rain Dance’, then wrapped up by aptly named closing track ‘Aftermath’, there’s no denying Bensley’s masterful artistry.

Title-track ‘Next Generation’ leads you by the hand with snippets of humanistic sample, flowing in and out of its construct. It’s built upon by striking note progressions, a relaying of patterns which chop and change the mix. Carefully placed subs add impact, with emphasis given on each break, carrying the track forward down a steep drop with each slab of bass.

Drawing together a dizzying and fresh array of new sounds, this album indicates why Bensley is a forerunner within the new generation of music comers. Its representative of the fast paced technological setting of music production he grew up around; it also proves that Bensley is able to tap into dimensions which are often unheard of in other bodies of work.

Born in San Francisco in 1927 Samuel Lloyd Spence is a peculiar piece in the komplicated krautrock puzzle.

As an American expat working in a community of German rock musicians in the early 70s Spence shared his alien status with the likes of David Johnson and Malcolm Mooney (Can), Carole Muriel (Brainticket), Maria Archer (Embryo), Bill Barone (Wallenstein) and the band Sweet Smoke, but in Spence’s case it wasn’t the free-love and communal living that attracted him to Germanic pastures – Spence’s European travel plan was academic.

Over a decade earlier Spence had travelled from California to Paris to study “serious music” composition at the Ecole Normale de Musique with the great composers Arthur Honegger and Francis Poulenc where he conducted alongside Jean Fournier. After settling in Europe he would later make his way to Austria and later Germany in search of a supportive community of symphony orchestras to help him develop music for film and television. Due to Communism it became difficult for Spence to enter the classical epicentre of Eastern Berlin so he settled for Munich.

Throughout the mid 60s Spence kept his hand in popular music via his US connections. His original roots playing clarinet and sax in Californian swing bands had lead to paid work sending compositions to commercial Hollywood groups which lead to a part time interest in electronic instruments and the development of the synthesiser. To balance his classical composition Spence was able to use his Hollywood credentials to score German TV commissions making dozens of groovy symphonic scores with electronic flourishes and towards the end of the decade, with the help of a long term contract composing motivational music for the National Football League, Spence had raised enough capital to bring one of the very first Moog sythesisers to Germany.

While in Munich Spence met an American disc jockey called Mal Sondock who had recently struck a production deal with a new German pop music label called Kuckuck. Sondock introduced Spence to a 24 year old Eckart Rahn who owned the record company and after an initial agreement to release a single of Spence’s soundtrack to the Francis Durbridge thriller series entitled ‘WIE EIN BLITZ’ (‘Like Lightning’) the pair discussed the idea of recording an LP of electronic music which would appeal to ambient and experimental enthusiasts who were searching for cosmic sounds after the rise of krautrock bands like Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream. After the release of two moog-fuelled singles including a cover version of Focus’ 1972 hit single ‘Sylvia’ Rahn agreed to release Spence’s debut LP of synthesiser based pop music which would sit amongst his eclectic Kuckuck roster including the minimal electronic pulses of Deuter, the experimental field recordings of Ernst Schultz and the avant-garde releases of Peter Michael Hamel and Terry Riley.

Signed exclusively to Kuckuck in Germany Rahn recognised the potential in Spence’s synthesiser music amongst production music circles and television advertising companies so he struck up deals throughout Europe with library labels such as Brull and Dewolfe who would distribute Spence’s LPs and sublicense new Sam Spence recordings from Kuckuck for potential commercial usage. This included a whole LP of entirely electronic tracks entitled ‘The Art Of The Sythesiser’ on which he used a Moog 55 to stunning effect creating melodic pastoral pop music, freakish suspense themes and a selection of short bursts of bubbling ‘Moog Shots’ which would soon find their way into crime thrillers and action films (such as Taylor Wong’s Kung Fu fantasy film “Ru Lai Shen Zhang”)

BadboE is back in full effect with the second EP from his upcoming album Pump Up The Funk coming out in the end of 2012. 4 brand new hot funky jams from the funk master himself - all mixed up and road-tested to perfection. This time he’s gone way back into his crates of rare grooves and picked out some real diamonds on which he has based these 4 state-of-the-art party jams. 

With this release BadboE is stepping well into the world of Ghetto bass and electro vibes, but without loosing the funk and soul that he’s so respected and loved for. On a tour to Australia and New Zealand, BadboE meet up with the 2 vocalists featuring on this EP: MC Kitch from Brisbane who is known to rock dancefloors MCing for Paul Masters, and Claire G Phunk, who has already been heard on tracks by Pimp Soul and Busta. As and added bonus the one-man band phenomenon Michael Devellis from New York has laid Horns and Flute on 2 jams on this EP. Breakbeat Paradise Recordings continues to keep it real to wax by releasing this 4-track beast exclusively on 12” Vinyl.

A1.  BadboE kicks off the EP with the straight up funky banger Ghetto Funkalicious featuring MC Kitch doing his thang on the mic. A well-picked funky groove some banging beats and ghetto basslines and Michael Devellis getting busy on the horns and flues is all it takes for BadboE to create and instant Ghetto Funk classic. This jam is already getting support from some of the major players in the scene!

A2. The second cut on the record continues right where the other left off, with a ruthless funky arrangement to keep the party going. Another big groove mixed up with some ghetto funk basslines and Michael Devellis doing magic on his horns and flute. This is a peak-time funky banger – celebrating the timeless Green Power Funk.

B1. The flipside is all about the disco jams where BadboE has brought new life into some otherwise unknown disco 45s. Sweet Games is featuring some magical smooth grooves and BadboE chop-up technics and music ear has created a timeless jam that puts a smile on everyone’s face whenever it’s played. This has been a secret weapon in BadboE’s sets for some time now, and BBP is proud to finally unleash this spectacular jam to the public.

B2. The final cut on the album picks up the tempo a bit and features some sweet vocals and lyrics by Claire G Phunk. Whatya Gonna Do For Me has a classic ghetto funk arrangement of wobble ghetto basslines and straight up funky breats. This Ghetto Funk anthem fits right in there, tying together the mid-tempo tunes with the uptempo jams in your DJ-sets.

Founded by Boe Pedersen (Dj BadboE) in Denmark, and now based in Florida. The label originates from the music website Breakbeat Paradise that has been running since 1996. Breakbeat Paradise is dedicated to breakers and electronic musicians within the style of music that we can loosely term as breakbeat. Developing and improving this website over the last 10 years to include everything from visitor music sharing, annual breakbeat contests, samplekits and discussion forum. We felt that going into digital music distribution would be a natural next step.

The music material on the Breakbeat Paradise website has over 1000 pieces of music. Breakbeat Paradise Recordings will  pick up the very best  “cream of the crop”, artists  and tunes and release them as digital downloads through Breakbeat Paradise Recordings  collaborative partners . We found digital distribution would match perfect with our cutting-edge funky breakbeat music and the fastest way from  the streets – to the listener and dancefloor!

With only exclusive vinyl and digital releases , we are always focused on the most important thing for us – the music! 

The music will span from traditional nu funk and funky breaks to more dancefloor oriented ghetto funk,  future funk and big beat as well as hip hop with a glitch and the more mellow side of the drum ‘n’ bass and nu breaks. The sound of Breakbeat Paradise is driven by an emphatic beat that is intended to form a leitmotif between the releases.

Even though releases from Breakbeat Paradise will be coming from different artists, we always uniform a sound by focusing within the genres of breakbeat.  Collaborators and musicians work close together on our label and we are always ensuring a brand of selective “state of the art“, quality and sound .

We will devote ourselves to deliver the phattest, funkiest and the biggest grooves to be found out there...
