Funk

It’s for Breakbeat Paradise Recordings to get back to business and follow up on the one of their most successful releases in the beloved series called Badass Funk! The volume one in the series is nearly impossible to follow but a dream team of 8 of the very best oldskool funky breaks producers has done just that on this epic volume two, which perfectly represents what BBP is all about: the uplifting and badass side of the funk!

The release makes room for both both originals, funky mashups and lots of big funky grooves. Some of the badass producers from volume is had to re-feature on volume 2 but there plenty of new blood making a big entrense on this funky piece of wax. Label-owner BadboE is letting loose on a new badass joint along with other BBP residence Breakbeat Junkie vs DJP and Roast Beatz doing their funky thang. B-Side & Turntill & Merlin are both bringing MCs along to push the envelope on their epic jams.

New talent to feature for the first time on the series are Morlack, Tosses and Ewan Hoozami, who has been invited to the exclusive club by bringing the biggest weapons in thier funky arsenals.

BBP is always on the spot to delivery the biggest and baddest jams in the scene – and puts big pride in offering this exclusively on vinyl. But fear not – there will be a digital release of this down the road.

When Under Mi Sleng Teng was launched on an unsuspecting public at the historic sound clash between the legendary King Jammy's Soundsystem and the mighty Black Scorpio Sound on February 23, 1985 in Kingston, Jamaica who could have suspected the impact it would have on the world of music and how long it's influence would remain prevelant.

Sound the airhorn and fast forward 31 years, skip (4,638.43 miles) across the Atlantic ocean to Nottingham, England, home of Relative Dimensions very own beatmeister extraordinaire and riddim revitaliser Leygo for his 2016 reimagining of that unmistakeable monsterous Casio melody. The man Leygo pays tribute to the original and takes it into territories never before conquered. Conquered they are, and then some, building to a riotus drop whilst morphing into a breakbeat beast of dancefloor smashing proportions. Set to tear up parties where ever it's played "Sleng Teng 2016" is 100% pure fiyaaah.

Next up on the EP release Leygo keeps with the uptempo carnival style inspiration, another well seasoned vocal and melody getting his trademark breaks rework. "Heading High" remoulds the rum & beach soaked voice of Mr Vegas' ridiculously addictive "Heads High" into a roaring breaks and bass workout. Tell them Leygo say so.

Maintaining the vibes and taking things into a perfect reggae & breaks fueled sunset finale. "Skanking High" is indeed a dirty skanking badman ting with a broad grin, a warming hug and a booming soundsystem. So many familiar elements layered up to bring a huge slice of musical sunshine to life. Taking the UK Garage smash "Fly Bi" from Sparks & Kie and masterfully weaving it through a skanked out, shuffling, exhibition of why Leygo is undoubtedly one of the sharpest (& nicest) heads in the business.

As the previous times BadboE has called upon some of the very best producers in the electronic funk scene to represent a well balanced blend of oldskoool funky gems and bass bangers clinically designed to set dancefloors on fire with Funk!

Bring Back The Funk Vol. 4 features brand new joints from BBP all-star producers, Lack Jemmon, B-Side, BadboE  & Proper as well as introducing new artists to the label: Hebegebe and Brian Carson, Kibosh and Synoptix who all have some funky goodness up their sleeves. 

The EP kicks off with a new joint from BadboE who has teamed up with longtime partner in beats Prosper to Bring That Back once again. They just released a new EP earlier this year on Bombstrikes and here they are again with a groovy party rocking jam.

Another duo who has returned for the second time this season is Lack Jammon after dropping their successful 12” vinyl, which has been getting spins in a lot of big festival DJ set this year. Here they are with the catchy Joan Jett tune, which features Kurnel MC on the mic over a rather tasty funky beat.

A producer that never disappoints is back to shine once again with a chilled slice of funk – DJ B-Side with a joint called Cali. A perfect way to return after the epic Like This track which has been rocking dancefloors and radio airwaves ever since it dropped on the Badass Funk EP.

From way down under we happy to introduce a new act Hebegebe and Brian Carson, with a pleasing funky sound, which sounds like it was made back in the nu funk days. On point and straight up oldskool banger designed to Bring Back The Funk!

For the remaining part of the EP we’ll welcome some bass to the party – first up brought by the talented Kibosh who returns to BBP for the second time after featuring on the Swing That Funk compilation. Last but not least we’ve called on Funk Fury new act called Synoptix to finish the party with a blast of a funky banger.

BBP is dedicated to bringing you the very finest in the funkier spectrum of the electronic breakbeat scene.

Founded by Boe Pedersen (Dj BadboE) in Denmark, and now based in Florida. The label originates from the music website Breakbeat Paradise that has been running since 1996. Breakbeat Paradise is dedicated to breakers and electronic musicians within the style of music that we can loosely term as breakbeat. Developing and improving this website over the last 10 years to include everything from visitor music sharing, annual breakbeat contests, samplekits and discussion forum. We felt that going into digital music distribution would be a natural next step.

The music material on the Breakbeat Paradise website has over 1000 pieces of music. Breakbeat Paradise Recordings will  pick up the very best  “cream of the crop”, artists  and tunes and release them as digital downloads through Breakbeat Paradise Recordings  collaborative partners . We found digital distribution would match perfect with our cutting-edge funky breakbeat music and the fastest way from  the streets – to the listener and dancefloor!

With only exclusive vinyl and digital releases , we are always focused on the most important thing for us – the music! 

The music will span from traditional nu funk and funky breaks to more dancefloor oriented ghetto funk,  future funk and big beat as well as hip hop with a glitch and the more mellow side of the drum ‘n’ bass and nu breaks. The sound of Breakbeat Paradise is driven by an emphatic beat that is intended to form a leitmotif between the releases.

Even though releases from Breakbeat Paradise will be coming from different artists, we always uniform a sound by focusing within the genres of breakbeat.  Collaborators and musicians work close together on our label and we are always ensuring a brand of selective “state of the art“, quality and sound .

We will devote ourselves to deliver the phattest, funkiest and the biggest grooves to be found out there...
