Italian producer Freedust is all about the funk-soul and the breaks blended with some lighthearted vocals that makes a sound that&rsquo;s is both classic and new. The sounds of Freedust is just the type of music we can&rsquo;t resist here at BBP - so when Mako &amp; Mr Bristow brought forward their epic big beat remix of My New Sunglasses - we did not think twice to get all over this project.
To complete the package we brought in 2 veterans in the funky breaks scene: BadboE &amp; Dj B-Side to do their funky thing on a party-breaks remix.
My New Sunglasses is the title track of Freedust&rsquo;s debut album from 2021 by the same name and features some classic grooves and some sweet vocals from Swedish singer Lisa Widmark.
On the remix front Mako &amp; Mr Bristow has captured the essential samples of the original and added some big bouncy beats and made it their own. BadboE &amp; B-Side has brough the track to the dancefloors with some ghetto vibes and human beatbox beats.

It’s that time again! Last year we brought you the 12 Days of Christmas, this year it’s the 25 days of advent, a mix and / or track for each day and we are super excited to show off what we have in store.

Sticking with tradition we kick things off with friend of the blog, Rory Hoy bringing you possibly his most eclectic mix to date! Advent Day 11 and we've got a proper party-popper on our hands with this free disco re-edit of Bohannon's 1978 classic Dance To The Beat from Andy Buchan. Not holding back, Andy goes to town on his take on the high-energy original and ensures all will arrive on the floor and hungry for it once they get wind of that thumping 4/4 beat, hard-groovin' bassline and a vocal that leaves you in no doubt as to what you should be doing.

Andy has had another highly productive year and has made sure disco DJs and fans have been well looked after throughout 2022. Lots of his music has landed on many of the top disco labels and his own label, Hot Gorilla Records, continues to go from strength to strength with highly-class music being wheeled out on the regular. It's fair to say that Pecoe's release rate in 2022 has been off the scale and while I feel pretty confident in saying he's not released something every week of the year, he's released that much that I would have to go and check. Most of what he has released throughout the year has carried his signature funky breaks sound, but a couple of curve balls were thrown out in the form of two excellent disco-led EP's on Rare Wiri and Spa In Disco. Still laced with funk, the two four-track EPs added another string to his bow and showed that there is more to his production work than the well-crafted funky breaks jams we've become accustomed to. 

In keeping with the theme of those two EPs, we have another slice of nu-disco from Pecoe to bring you for day five of our advent calendar. In The 80's is an intense, deep and captivating groove that's easy to get lost in until the bassline kicks in to literally rock your world! It's a little something different from what we're used to from Pecoe, but that's how we like it and like it we do! Download for free on the player above.

Founded by Boe Pedersen (Dj BadboE) in Denmark, and now based in Florida. The label originates from the music website Breakbeat Paradise that has been running since 1996. Breakbeat Paradise is dedicated to breakers and electronic musicians within the style of music that we can loosely term as breakbeat. Developing and improving this website over the last 10 years to include everything from visitor music sharing, annual breakbeat contests, samplekits and discussion forum. We felt that going into digital music distribution would be a natural next step.

The music material on the Breakbeat Paradise website has over 1000 pieces of music. Breakbeat Paradise Recordings will  pick up the very best  “cream of the crop”, artists  and tunes and release them as digital downloads through Breakbeat Paradise Recordings  collaborative partners . We found digital distribution would match perfect with our cutting-edge funky breakbeat music and the fastest way from  the streets – to the listener and dancefloor!

With only exclusive vinyl and digital releases , we are always focused on the most important thing for us – the music! 

The music will span from traditional nu funk and funky breaks to more dancefloor oriented ghetto funk,  future funk and big beat as well as hip hop with a glitch and the more mellow side of the drum ‘n’ bass and nu breaks. The sound of Breakbeat Paradise is driven by an emphatic beat that is intended to form a leitmotif between the releases.

Even though releases from Breakbeat Paradise will be coming from different artists, we always uniform a sound by focusing within the genres of breakbeat.  Collaborators and musicians work close together on our label and we are always ensuring a brand of selective “state of the art“, quality and sound .
