Today, Lights Out brings you an exclusive premiere of the very first release from LA-based promoter Synthetik Minds new imprint, Synthetik Sounds. As the leading name in underground techno parties on the West Coast, Synthetik Minds has brought some of the world's finest names in techno to top-level parties in various warehouses around Los Angeles. The label will be co-curated with 6AM Group and Indonesian techno artist Ecilo, who takes charge of the first release with a solid 5-track EP titled 'Protech The Skyline'

The first release is an EP titled Protech The Skyline and is scheduled for April 22nd release, featuring five original tracks from Ecilo that firmly underscores Synthetik Sounds’ vision for the label: quality dance-floor focused techno fitting for the dark warehouse spaces 6AM and Synthetik Minds curate.

The imprint will focus on building bridges between North America, Europe, Asia, and beyond, acting as a platform for artists whose output leans both on deep, hypnotic techno as well as darker, and harder soundscapes of the genre.

Linear Groove is urgent right from the get-go and is uncompromising with its energy or rhythm. The arpeggio lead has a menacing air to it, conjuring images of lasers and flashing strobes in a dark sweaty warehouse.

We’ve got some trance fuelled driving techno from one of Ireland’s finest producers, Snakebite 616. The Dublin based DJ & producer dips his toes in a eurphoric mayhem while still holding onto raw and honest techno power.

Snakebite 616, formerly known as Nathan Jones has been on a war path since switching to a new alias, and received a heap of success. His track ‘Right Of Passage’ released on the newly born ‘Ogham Records’ is ageing like a fine wine, as we run further away from the release date, the track seems to be garnering even more applause. Receiving support from DJ’s all through Ireland & Europe, and has been an absolute staple in any set I was lucky enough to play last year.

Syncopated Records have had a similarly strong beginning with their label, as they approach their first year anniversary they present a new EP from Dublin mainstay Snakebite 616. Two strong VA’s and an EP from Modēm show a pedigree for high quality techno tools.

‘Finding Light’ represents the reflection of pain and suffering and how it is somehow intertwined with appreciating the love that surrounds us and the beautiful moments in life. A Dublin take on Copenhagen techno from Nathan Jones is a juggernaut of an offering from the label.

Berlin techno talent Regent channels his signature depth and drive into a new outing for MALöR Records. With each release since his inception in 2020, he demonstrates the versatility of his sound and his ability to convey profound narratives across a spectrum of techno sub styles.

After contributing a standout track to the label’s Purveyors Of The Groove Vol. 3 compilation in 2023, he now returns with a highly cerebral yet anthemic and dance floor-destined 5-tracker EP: Cratea.

The A-side kicks off with the EP’s standout cut, 'Refiction', a sinister, forward-marching piece laced with spooky, psychedelic vocals and dripping in LFOs and mind-boggling soundscapes.

It’s followed by the title track 'Cratea', shaped by steady bleeps and an evolving, echo-drenched synth that bounces erratically from start to finish, driven forward by thick claps and floaty rides.

On the flip, 'Origins' delivers a steady, hypnotic tool built on organic bass sounds, gnarly percussion, and wet vocal chops, peaking with four-to-the-floor claps that are sure to lock in a busy dance floor.

'Null Model' follows with a signature Regent groove, fusing driving 909 drums with a clever interplay of short synth stabs and warped-out voices, resulting in a deeply trippy, almost paranoid atmosphere.

Closing the record is 'Stealthless', a stripped-back yet uplifting techno tool, offering moments of synth euphoria and harmony while remaining deliberately restrained and minimal by design.

A versatile release made for different moments in the night, designed to guide dance floors through profound, body-moving journeys.
