Recently recovered from the original DAT this recording of Bruce Lacey performing 'There once was a man' with Tim Lane accompanying on guitar was made for Bruce's 'Metamorphosis' installation at Glasgow's Gallery of Modern Art 1996. Somewhere near the North Norfolk coast lie the ruins of Burning Chrome Studio. Although only abandoned in 2005 the converted WW2 bunker that housed the studio has already succumbed to the elements. Masses of barbed brambles block the old doorway and a thick mat of moss and aromatic pine needles covers the crumbling concrete floors. It will soon be nothing more that a featureless mound in a densely wooded landscape. 

Presented here are the studio archives, rescued from cassettes, CDs and DAT tapes, they represent over two decades of recordings made in the studio by individual musicians, bands and friends working together on projects. Some are completed finely crafted pieces, some recordings of live rehearsals, some merely unfinished rough sketches and ideas. The original recordings vary greatly in quality having been made on a variety of equipment over the years, ranging from a 4 track cassette machine through 8-track reel to reel, direct to DAT recordings from sequenced synthesisers, ADATs and finally DAWs.
