I uploaded the first hour of the opening set I played for @voxnoxberlin earlier this year. The recording starts with some ambient because this was the time the club actually opened and as soon as there were people on the dance floor I brought in some beat. To be honest, it was not the easiest job for me to maintain a more laid-back pace yet an interesting tension throughout the whole set, in the genre of harder techno the temptation is far too big to just shoot out one banger after the other. But still, the job of the opening DJ is to open the night and to leave space for things yet to come, it made me realize how much fun that can be as well. Somehow it means to limit yourself, yet there are suddenly much more possibilities to experiment! You can explore more deeper sides of your genre, let everything flow into each other way longer, weave a dense web of textures, play with dynamics in different ways than just up, up, up. This set was a really interesting experience for me, where I felt i was growing as a DJ, so I decided to share that with you. Sadly, the battery of my recording device died at some point, so the rest of the 3-hour long set will only continue to exist in memory. Cheers!

Born and raised in southern Italy, Jacom is an emerging techno DJ and producer based in Zurich. In 2006, he fully dedicated himself to electronic music, which quickly brought him behind the decks. When he moved to Zurich in 2012, his career took an exponential upswing. In 2016 the talented Italian became a member of the renowned label Adroit and has been an integral part of the collective ever since.

In addition to numerous performances in Italy (e.g. Amnesia Milano, Cosmic Festival) and throughout Switzerland, Jacom has also demonstrated his skills in other European countries. Thus, Berlin is also one of his achievements, where he played in well-known venues such as Anomalie, Aeden or About Blank. Jacom is characterized by his groovy and hypnotic sets, which is reflected in his productions. The latest EP "Mind" (with remixes by Kaiser and Vsk) hit immediately and received support from notable artists like Richie Hawtin, Joseph Capriati or Perc. Jacom still has a lot of big things in his pipeline, so be sure to keep an eye on him!

Balagan is a French duo based in Paris, exploring the harder, faster and darker side of techno music. Inspired by their underground rave roots, Balagan have created their own style clearly identified by industrial sounds, hard and heavy kicks, raw synths and chopped breaks. Their skills and talent have already convinced several labels such as Green Fetish, RAW, Tripalium and We Are Rave. The duo recently created their own label, Balagan Records bringing their personal touch to the harder side of techno. Their second EP, Ghetto Funk, is now available on all platforms and their music is played on a regular basis by many key artists of the scene.

Next up in the Fast Forward Audio Series, we present: ALVA

Alva demands commitment. Her fast-paced style turns dancefloors into a high-energy workout area. While hammering beats with a ravey feel fill up the room, she stretches the borders between your body and mind. Well-thought build-ups, diverse sound spectrums and fast precise mixing characterize her energetic sets. Her contemporary outtake on techno makes you want her to keep ongoing.

In 2018, the young, ambitious DJ became a resident at the Berlin-founded collective "ISMUS".
ISMUS organized sold-out, 36+ hour techno raves at the famous Berlin club Griessmuehle. Besides Griessmuehle, Alva has earned her stripes within the Berlin clubbing scene by playing almost every electronic music institution in the city imaginable. Her sound has echoed through Tresor, About Blank, and as highlight Säule (Berghain/Panorama Bar) in December 2019. Outside of Berlin, her name has appeared on many event posters throughout Germany and the rest of Europe like Das Werk (​AUT​), Corsica Studios (UK), and Schron (PL).

Apart from the bigger institutions, Alva has a lot of affinity with the local underground and activistic side of the club scene. She has closed the huge illegal warehouse rave of Bipolar and played the infamous underground club nights Mala Junta in Berlin and Endurance in Copenhagen. Further, she played multiple demonstrations for the perseverance of Berlin’s club culture like ISMUS’ 1st of May rave and the ‘Wem gehört die Stadt’-parade.
