A to the K aka Amadeus K sends the next astronomical guidepost for the LIS information center. We met him on the @themuddshow Stream and catched him due to his filthiest selection of electronic 4/4 weapons. Fortunately now he delivered another recording which pump up your dancing veins. In addition, his nickname is AK4/4 and he is one of the owners from Molar Records based in Berlin.

Well, it's been a while. How have you been? So we recently asked Max Santilli if he could grace us with a Beachcombers entry, and in response he turned in this fantastic mix for all our listening. Max has great taste and is an excellent producer, so it's only natural this mix shines with an hour of soft-rock, ambient ballads, balearic grooves and much more. The French city of Montpellier has long possessed an obsession with all things electronic music. At the forefront of this scene is Yamen & EDA.
Friends since childhood, the pair possess an almost telepathic understanding behind the decks and in the studio, a way of working that’s brought them to the attention of some of contemporary house and techno’s most renowned imprints and dancefloors.

Having officially kicked off as a duo in 2011, Yamen & EDA’s ascendency has been an impressive one. Theirs is a story however, that goes much further back. Raised on a solid musical diet of minimal house and techno, the pair’s formative years were spent on the many dancefloors of the south of France, experiences that still inspire their music to this very day.

Best friends and ardent musical lovers with a penchant for similar styles and techniques, it was only ever a matter of time before Yamen & EDA solidified their friendship through music. Quickly getting down to business in the studio, their inaugural releases hinted at great promise, eventually bringing them to the attention of One Records boss, Adam Shelton. Always keen to foster fledgling talent, Shelton has signed numerous Yamen & EDA releases to his imprint and even had the boys join him at One Records showcases in London at fabric, Sonar in Barcelona and at Below in Birmingham.

The relationship is one that’s since brought the pair to the attention of numerous other labels, with Earlydub and LAATE among those who’ve housed their talents. What’s more, their music has been played along the way by some of the scene’s foremost players, with Raresh, Petre Inspirescu and Apollonia all lending their support. 

2018, however, is the year that Yamen & EDA are set to go it alone courtesy of their own Maison Mere label. A vinyl-only affair that kicked off recently courtesy of the auspicious ‘Retrospect’ EP, the label promises to promote a wide range of contrasting electronic sounds. “A platform to collect and release music without any limits”, it’s indicative of an altogether exciting new chapter in the already emphatic careers of Yamen & EDA. With further releases to come on John Dimas’ always on-point Elephant Moon label as well as a return to One Records in the works, 2018 already looks set to be a defining year for one of France’s most exciting duos.

Next up for our Sesssions podcast is Colombian producer & DJ, Craftsmanship. We premiered his track ‘Just Cruising’ off his That Girl EP on Miura Records a couple weeks ago and we needed to hear a mix.

Craftsmanship began his dj career at an early age in his hometown Cali and later relocated to Medellin after taking a long break. There he began his journey as a producer and connected with fellow artists Camilo Do Santos & AFM. This led to opportunities to play in Medellin’s top nightclubs such as Salon Amador, Calle 9+1, Club 1984, and Mansion Club.

Craftsmanship’s sound whether it be his productions or dj sets draws influences from the blues, jazz, hip-hop, and lofi. You’ll find his releases on Pogo House Records, Inhale Exhale, Hustler Trax, theBasement Discos, and other labels. Now residing on the white sandy beaches of Cancun, Mexico, he is fully dedicated to his craft and passion, house music.

Josh Hills, the creative mind behind the identity & social media design for Personal Space, soothes us here with a 2 hour mix of his most personal favourite genre blending folk, rock, new-wave & postpunk sounds. "Like many, my first experiences with music were through my parents. There was never really a quiet moment in our house, something always playing in the background - it became that thing that was always there. As I’ve gotten older, many things have changed, but the role that it (music) plays in my day to day life still remains much the same - something that, both accompanies and enhances everything around me. What I have probably realised more is that when isolated and completely focused on, music becomes something completely different - there aren't many feelings that compare to the ones you get when hearing a song you like for the first time. This is a small selection of those songs - a diverse mix of favourites, old and new.

"The following is a mix to enjoy while alone, weather its on the bus, plane, sitting in a park, at the beach or when you want to nap... ESP when you want to NAP!!! It takes from the 50s,60s'70s''80's eras, a time when lyrics told you stories and guitars made you feel warm and fuzzy. This isn't a mix of obscure tracks you've never heard to prove my 'diggin clout' but a mix to just sit back and enjoy, Loves songs that relax you and make you drift way and at some points you can even sing along.  It also features a few tracks my mum and dad would sit and play us on the farm (the Everly brothers) and a movie that our family was obsessed with it. (La bamba). These particular tracks take me to a time when I fell in love with the stories in songs and it was the start of my obsession for music you enjoy! NFTCM (not for the chins mix)"
