After about two years of recording, I released a 14 track record called "The Captaincy EP" on January 30th, 2015. 

Let's call that first release the A-Side. I fuck with it very much. 

But I made hella more music during that window of existence and I need to share it with you. It's my duty.

The title of this collection speaks to the idea of taking control of my experience. I am Captaincy. I needed to figure out what that meant and what I was gonna do with my new understanding.

I moved to Seattle in June 2013 and entered a transformative period of clarity. Surrounded by novelty, yet forced to work and play the role of a cog in a crumbling system, I let my new circumstances fuel my fire. I would work during the day and record at night. I had to release. Emote. I was depressed, I was anxious, I was excited, I was ready, I was spiteful, I was hungry.

I starved the middle man by avoiding paying for things like studio time, album artwork, mixing/mastering.. I came to the  conclusion that I need to do it all myself. If shit sounds scratchy at first, or not all the way polished, so be it. That's the process. The more music I made, the better it started to sound. Growth is gratifying. I am glad to say everything is written, recorded, mixed, and mastered by me. I worked inside of various closets, locked cars, and bedrooms. I recorded on Garageband and mixed/mastered with Logic. 

Thematically, I tried not to focus on making much of a succinct piece of work.. The A-Side ended up sort of revolving around the Alan Watts piece at the beginning of 'Crescendo' and the quantum notion of simultaneously living and dying, but more or less, I just said said fuck it and created for creation sake. It's better that way.

With that said, I have opened the Chamber of Secrets. Let my voice be the basilisk. Get stoned like a dirty filthy mudblood and enjoy yourself for me

Hace mucho tiempo, en una galaxia muy lejana, yo iba caminando por los pasillos de la facultad de ingeniería con discos de Yes o Genesis bajo el brazo. Un día me sorprendí respirando hondo al abrir mi primera revista Expreso Imaginario. Y en el colectivo leía a Alan Watts, a Erich Fromm, a Gary Snyder. Cuando en esa época compré el disco Red de King Crimson no entendí nada, y le pasé muchas veces aquél líquido rosado para mejorarle el sonido. Mientras tanto, escribía poemas con las letras de Pete Townshend al lado. Unos años más tarde, usaba las lapiceras de dibujo técnico para crear naves espaciales y extraños paisajes en hojitas A5, que sirvieron para ilustrar cuentos de ciencia ficción. Un día me prestaron un scanner de mano y los dos diskettes del Photofinish, y por un tiempo no pude dormir bien. Y hay más...
