Well what a week that was. With Max Graham kicking off a bumper week of content that also saw mixes from the likes of Doorly and Kevin Knapp we certainly started as we meant to go on. Now with sore heads and a slightly sad look on our faces interrupted by the occasional smile as we reminisce about the weekend we’re back at our London HQ. Helping us through the day and already gearing us up for the next weekend is today’s extra special podcast from the inimitable Beardyman.

Despite the sandstorm early in the day, such a wicked vibe. You'd think dubai is just skyscrapers and gold watches, but actually, it' s bumpin. which is nice. . i did a garishly savage and at times progressive set consisting of mainly electronic sounds and there was little in the way of comedy or anything silly. Just balls to the wall mashupness in the land of zero mash-up. Recognise.

This year i'll be releasing 52 singles, 12 podcasts, 52 live streams and a bunch of video content too. 

I was thinking about the project, about 2020, about my experience of life so far, about the universe in general, and this song came to me, fairly fast - the lyrics and the song's structure crystallised in my head over a couple of days, then it was just a matter of trying to do it justice. I felt like it needed to be performed in as close to real-time as i could, so this whole song is one live take, edited slightly for brevity's sake. I only did the one pass; I kinda feel like that's the best way to do things. The whole thing was recorded in real time, in sequence and without stopping, and it's all built from my vocals and beatboxing. Regardless of what it sounds like, none of it is pre-produced. Only the automation on the loops and samples was pre-determined, but if you don't put sounds in it's just silent and building a song on this rig demands a high degree of manual control. I like it that way. It's like flying a mind-plane made of music, good intentions and ipads. Blarrf.

I'm more excited about this year than I've ever been about anything! I'm touring too. And there's heaps more stuff to announce!!!

I done a gig in istanbul. There were girls in headscarves and girls in shorts, there were ravers and religiously conservative people there. As i write this, Turkey is in revolt against a democratically elected demagogue who imprisons journalists, political opponents and seeks to deepen the divide between the progressive and the traditional. I post this mix in solidarity for the liberal minded in Turkey who fear marginalization at the hands of Erdogan. I met some awesome people out there and i sincerely hope they and their country pull through without the need for any more violence or oppression.
