It’s been a while since we’ve had a party takeover on the platform, but you’re in for a treat on the ears today as the sounds of OSO:DEN are showcased on the next instalment of the Grooveology series. Follow the link in our bio to listen.

The brainchild of previous guest to the series, Bear Winder, the OSO:DEN parties aim to push the boundaries of the deeper, soulful side of House, fusing it with underground Garage both old and new. The party comes with a simple mantra, aiming to provide a platform for artists who champion the sound, as well as the long-standing connoisseurs who led the way in the 90’s and early 00’s. We can certainly get down with that! This is echoed throughout the mix with music from Kiko Navarro, DirtyTwo, Demuja and Jimpster to name but a few.

Bear will be hosting the next OSO:DEN party tomorrow night, Saturday 2nd December down in the cave at the Queen of the South, SE27 9BQ where she’ll be joined by K. The musical arm of Collective Groove consists of Charlie & Pete, good friends for just under a decade having been introduced by their third honorary member Bobby

Charlie found underground electronic music through the peak of UK garage back in his mid to late teens. His early club encounters were in venues such as Scala in the UK & Club Abyss in Ayia Napa. An undisputed era in UK music which was always about having the best time, he naturally found his way into the house (and occasionally disco) scene

Pete shares a very similar story although he can add D'n'B and Jungle as accolades of his youth. Throughout his earlier years he managed to haul an extensive collection of early house & garage records which still get dusted off and played to this day

Recently the pair have reunited their love for the 90s house scene. A time in which the US house vibes coming from places such as New York, Chicago and Detroit were birthing the garage scene they loved so much here in the UK. They list Jovonn, Ron Trent, Tony Humphries, Kerri Chandler, MAW, Blaze, 95 North, Chez Damier, Glenn Underground, Jazz N Groove & Mood II Swing amongst their most influential artists

"For our OSO:Den mix we wanted to do something almost exclusively from the music of the 90's. We've favoured the more driving NY sound but included are some absolute bumpin highs. Much of the music is from the pioneers of this time, a sound which in our opinion never tires. We love that Bear & the Oso:Den crew are keeping such an important era of music alive and hope that experienced music heads can enjoy the mix whilst hopefully blessing the younger ears with some exquisite records they may have never heard before"

Da Rhythm Sessions 17th April 2024 (DRS438)

Born in Spain and bred in South London, Bear is a mixed medley of deep and raw with a flair of bump and soul, inspired by the underground house & garage scene of the UK, enticed to the deeper and more soulful sounds of the Balearic Islands - very much influenced by her summers spent on the White Isle as a kid in the 90’s, and many a season later as an adult.

Bear’s 10-year DJ career has seen her prominently carve out her unique sound – driving, deep, old skool flavours, with bumpy highs and beefy basslines – making her a regular fixture in London’s underground house and garage club scene, UK festivals, Ibiza and beyond. 

Last year saw Bear successfully debut her own brand and event 'OSO:DEN’, championing the sounds and artists of the underground. And having spent the last couple of years cutting her teeth into production, she dropped her debut solo release on ‘Soul Revolution Records’ receiving heavy support from underground house legends within the scene.

Having kicked the year off supporting Yung Singh on his Aus/NZ tour, playing in some of Australia’s leading venues including Melbourne’s infamous Revolvers, alongside bookings locked in for spring in the UK with major promoters supporting the likes of Mike Dunn, and newly signed to DVINE sounds under the Defected roof, 2024 is set to be a big year of music for Bear.
