The grooves the band play are centred around Funk, Soul and Hip Hop, but this is by no means their only musical outlet, there are etches of other music influence melded in to the set as well. 

Having also put on weekly Jam nights enjoyed around the city for 3 years, encompassing and welcoming all types of diversities form University students to local veterans, From Cuban and Bhangra drummers to local Funksters and Rockers, all joined in with BeatDen on stage to jam together to create something new and improvisational. An ethos of that kind of improvisation and  creative enjoyment have always been kept with in the group.

The heart of the band derives from Oisin RS, a multi-instrumentalist who's background has been heavily influenced by the likes of dub, reggae and funk. Along with Vgo, who's also a multi-instrumentalist with a background in Hip Hop poetry.

BeatDen brings a new angle of sound and creativity with positivity at the centre of it, resulting in a show that will keep you hooked from start to finish.

Daggers & Waves are trapped: Bound together in a slippery genre car crash. A collision of sounds that tugs and gnaws at the heart and bones with gut wrenching ferocity.

Electro, proto-punk, jazz, spoken word, shoegaze, alt rock ‘n’ roll and soul sit at the centre of their trans-sonic universe. Blown up, spat out and mushed down through the voice and fingers of band leader and quantum-philanthropist Jassen Summogum. Daggers & Waves live for making their music, inter-dimensional extreme poetry and chocolate digestive biscuits.

Videogame Orchestra [VGO], were formed by Alex Retsis & George Aggelides, in 2004. They intend to create a video-game music archive, based on remakes and original compositions. The main concept of the VGO sound is to re-create the video-game aesthetics, using various authentic sources and tools. The VGO archive is always expandable and every proposal is taken under consideration. VGO believe that, when a track appeals to even a single person, it's a track worth remaking. Occasionally VGO deal with more electronic oriented projects, so stay tuned!

Crystal's vision is to create Afro-fused Soul music. She loves soft and sinuous music that is effortless to listen to, but in contrast, she also falls for grand, dramatic beats and drums that demand attention!

In 2013 Crystal performed at Bristol's famous St Paul's Carnival in July, Soulfreedom Live's monthly event and at the BBC which led to her to debut on BBC Radio Bristol.

She has also had the opportunity to work with Laid Blak, producer Steve Redman and Reel Me Records in Bristol.

Now reconnecting with her home audience, Crystal has performed with Joseph Hellon, Eddie Gray, June Gachui and more.


Lulibird is a Bristol-based musician, artist and curator. She's interested in community projects and sustainability. Musically she draws inspiration from Regina Spektor, Alt-J, Matt Corby, Kimbra, and Sia.
