Normally I record all my sets on my phone but this time it just didn't work :') I'm really grateful that Fusion recorded it  and now I can share it with you. Better late than never! :) 

Big love to 3000Grad crew for inviting me to perform on their wonderful stage again, and big love to all the dancers who joined me. It was a weekend full of inspiration, I enjoyed the festival after my set and I hope to be able to come back every year.

Playing at Garbicz was a big dream I've had since my the first time I attended it back in 2019. So there was so much fiery yet patient passion in me lounging to be expressed in this debut set. At the same time, I have felt the collective burden SO much given all the unacceptable atrocities going on in many places in the world...

A lesson my therapist has helped me to navigate it: the price we pay for suppressing a certain emotion is that we end up suppressing ALL of our emotions.

Let that sink in for a moment...

The joy I felt was not "despite" everything happening in the world, but rather In Acknowledgement and Recognition of it, with all the emotions it evokes. It was the only way I found to honor the blessing of living this dream authentically. That’s why this became one of my most powerful sets.

Nina Simone once said: “An artist’s duty is to reflect the times.” And this set truly did! It was a proper blast with many of my favorite tracks AND, at the same time, a prayer filled with powerful messages and (indigenous) wisdom to guide us through the times we are living.

Thank you to Garbicz for having me, especially to @lichtung_garbicz and to everything it Stands for. Also big gratitude to every friend and dancer who waited through delays, woke up early, or stepped out of their tents to join me at @alisteebar. Your fiery energy is woven into the recording 🔥 And to those who shed tears during or after — I feel you. I cried twice while preparing this set myself.

A Sunrise at Garbicz Festival 2025 - Lichtung

Mark is a groove kind of guy, but one that never looses sight of the warm and melodic blanket that can comfort you while hanging in that groove. He’s known for throwing events like his own Ankleideraum and a driving force behind The Noodle Lounge, both places where the love for downtempo music is dripping from the walls. A snake slithers across a clearing, unafraid of the eagle that soars above watching and resisting the natural instinct to dive in kill.
The creatures know. The wind knows. The land knows.... It is time.
A black panther appears on the mountain peak, gracefully it leaps from rock to rock, descending toward the valley floor. With one final leap, as her feet leave the cliff edge, airborne she becomes black smoke and lands no longer as a panther but instead a strong African woman. Rokia’s bare feet land hard onto the grass, thumping her beat into the earth. She approaches a bush that is growing in the middle of the grassy valley floor and with one breath she ignites the lone plant in flames.
A black crystal hangs from her neck, which she unties and removes. She has been wearing it for years as it has absorbed her energy and character, becoming an extension of her celestial body. As she holds it, the crystal shakes slightly, soft vibrations in time with a faint rhythm. The crystal whispers Rokia’s beat, which has become imbedded in its dimensions.
She closes her eyes and takes a deep, long breath.
She opens her eyelids revealing a burning orange glow reflected by the fire, which she stares at fixedly for moments before throwing the necklace into it. Instantly that faint beat that the crystal whispered is amplified and black smoke begins to rise from this sacred fire.
Three men thunder down the mountain on horse back as if appearing from no where. With each hoof’s thud, dust bursts from and trails behind the dusty troupe as they ride at speed toward the sacred fire on the valley floor. Without the horses slowing, the men dismount with ease and perfect balance and their steed continue to gallop off into the mountain range. The fire’s glow illuminates the dusty bodies of these three cowboy as they approach and stand before it. However the shadows that their hats cast upon their face defies the laws of light and keeps faces hidden in darkness. Each of them in unison, turn out their pockets, emptying a handful of sand into each of their palms. The sand rhythmically pulsates, and whispers the troupe’s beat, reciting their story. For over a decade, we have shared our vibrations, both locally and on an international scale, releasing on some of the world’s most respected labels and captivating crowds across all four corners of the globe. Along the way, we have not just made friends, but built a family. And now we seek to pave a path for those who follow. Nurturing talent from across New Zealand and Australia, Beat & Path is harnessing the region’s musical powers to create a label of international distinction. Our drum roll is to showcase the finest talent that our two nests have to offers, whilst nurturing young blood and cross pollinating with first-rate producers from around the globe.

Beat & Path specialises in deep, organic vibrations with a signature electronic edge. From homegrown dusty desert twangs to inspiring sounds from throughout the world, the label aims to take you on it’s own unique journey through electronic soundscapes from an angle that you may have never seen. Since our inception in 2016, the label has enlisted a promising slew of up and coming artists to its roster, including the likes of Caly Jandro, Philosophia, Boy Oh Boy, Moontide, Beacon Bloom, The Oddness, Jamie Stevens, Sanoi, Timmus, whilst showcasing world class producers Thankyou City, Be Svendsen, Nicone, Oliver Koletzki, Madmotormiquel, David Keno, Timboletti, Sabo, KMLN & many more.

We have shared stories of friendship, passion, and nights that never end. Now, BEAT & PATH becomes the book from which we tell our stories.
