This song is somehow a tribute to a generation of French producers who shaped my identity and, more specifically, to this artist of life, Philippe Zdar (@cassiusofficial) 🌹, who taught me so much. Spontaneity, generosity, and a delicate sense of humor—to allow yourself, to inspire others to shine.
So many flavours are merged in this song; and of course some Armenian samples hidden here and there. The taste of a childhood inspired to create this homage full of passion and light. Time flies but the music stays.
Music is light. You are the sun. And you proved it with your radiant smiles that night in Paris - to those who stayed until the last track.

Born in the dark streets of Cairo, grown to the unforgettable forests of Santa Esmeralda, spending its teen years in Bombay and Tangier markets, mature into the deep spacey Jungle of Ghana we proudly present you a new label from the land of the pyramids: SHANGO RECORDS invites you to an unheard world music psychedelic trip: like through a colorful kaleidoscope we will melt down Indian and Pakistani Vibes, Arab-Tek and Oriental groovy vibes, Afro-Beat rhythms n' pieces, Cumbia Tropicana flavors and cosmic Ghetto-Latin vibes into forbidden sounds of frenzied electronic dancefloor rituals. Outside traditional paths these driving grooves and polyphonic structures take the adventure seeking dancer to Dionysian highs and places never been before.

Epirus or Epeiros in Greek mythology, was a member of the Theban royal family as the daughter of princess Agave and Echion, one of the Spartoi. She was the sister of Pentheus, successor of King Cadmus of Thebes. Epirus accompanied Cadmus and Harmonia while they were carrying the body of Pentheus. While in Epirus, she died and was buried in a thicket; this thicket was later considered sacred to her and the entire country was renamed after her. This same thicket was also considered the place where the king's son Cichyrus accidentally slew a young girl named Anthippe while hunting. In remorse he flung himself into a ravine and was killed. The king's people, the Chaonians, founded the city of Cichyrus around the ravine. Kellie Sakkaku are watching the Moon and paying their respects to Epirus. This is their fourth offering for Shango Records. These three tracks can teach you the mysteries of Pentheus and give you the beauty of Agave.

@madota's "Metamorphosis" emerges from the depths of our subconscious, embodying a tribute to the piano, one of our favourite instrument. The impact of Covid compelled us to change our music-making process, with jamming becoming a pivotal tool in this transformation. Our approach to music making became more fluid, leading us to undergo a metamorphosis in sync with our newfound creative energies.

The essence of the track revolves around waves of sizzling pianos, serving both as a flirtatious melody and  a percussive force that pushes the composition forward. These pianos capture the feelings that come about during profound change, where happiness and sadness intermingle, mirroring a drastic alteration of form.

Following an impressive Beat & Path debut (‘Fridgian Dominant’), Transcenic are back to make a statement. The South Island pair – Ray (Spoonhead) and Jimmy (Subminimal) – have years of collective experience on the island’s doof scene which, as Transcenic, they’re channelling into a project with an eastward gaze.

‘Higher Ground’ is a heavy vehicle. A long, poignant vocal call sets the tone; it’s the sort that characterised evocative early rave tracks (think ‘Raincry’ and ’Out of Body Experience’) and lets you know you’re in for some proper dancefloor mysticism. The kick drops alongside swinging highs and low synth growls, and pretty quickly you’re getting pulled through a sound-world of monks, DMT insects and stately columns sculpted from transmuted saw waves. A huge inner landscape to explore while your feet are busy stomping – i.e., exactly what you’d hope for from house producers with psy credentials.

Peruvian instrumentalist Marco Tegui (Kindisch, Stil Vor Talent, Downtempo Love) provides a complete rework, layering his own guitar virtuosity over a pumping vaudevillian beat. It’s the sort of remix that comes rarely in a scene where remixes can be little more than edits, and you may initially struggle to join the dots. But careful attention reveals this for what it is: a meticulous overhaul that bows to its source material before folding it inside out. It’s also a low-key banger.

PREMIERE: Spoonhead & Transcenic - Higher Ground (Marco Tegui Remix) [BEAT & PATH]

Ubuntu is "the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity." Derived from the profound Nguni Bantu term meaning "humanity," it is often translated as "I am because we are," or "humanity towards others."

Ubuntu is an indigenous philosophy from Africa grounded in humanistic values and principles of solidarity, kindness, cooperation, respect, and compassion.

The original song "Ubuntu" composed by @kora-musique & @wuachuma gave life to a short film offering a mesmerizing visual narrative set against the breathtaking landscapes of West Africa in a coastal community of Ghana with local talent Roland Boakye acting as the main role alongside the involvement of a large amount of local participants who helped co-create a story of Ubuntu.

We are thankful for our talented friends from Québec Julian Thomas and Renaud Jacob who directed, filmed, and edited this cinematic journey of connection and evolution as the song became the soundtrack of a beautiful story of unity.

The video will be released on November 23, 2023.

We hope this project can help spread hope and remind us of our humanity and our interconnection.

We thank everyone who contributed to this project, especially the community of Ghana who participated in the film with so much authenticity.
