Born and raised on the West side of Rochester NY. Upstate NY has been home to me for almost 18 years. I grew up on Warwick Avenue and Arnett Blvd. I've been walking to school ever since I was in kindergarten (I know right imagine that, me at 5 years old walking to school). So I first fell in love with real R&B when I heard Donnell Jones "Where I wanna be"! I was in the car driving around with my pop and he heard me humming and said "Oh you think you can sing, ok sing this song" I must admit when he first heard me singing this song it blew him away because he didn't know I could hit those notes just like Donnell did and the fact that I knew the words threw him off even more because I was only in elementary when that song came out! The passion grew even more when me and my siblings first saw Sister Act 2 and "Oh Happy Day" came on, it was a rap! I told myself I have to learn this song immediately and we did. Me and my siblings would always want to put on shows for our guest whoever came over the house we used to love to perform right in front of the doorway because in the infamous "Blue House" it looked and felt like a stage because of the setup and the lighting. I remember when we visited our cousin’s house around the way from us and sung "Oh Happy Day" for our parents and Grandma! We used to be fearless back then and of course I was the lead singer lol! High school was gave me  a new confidence especially once I heard boi Musiq Soulchild. One of my all-time favorite albums from him was his Aijuswanaseing Album. I didn't realize I had the talent or the ear for it until I started singing his songs to older women. Those were the days. I've been inspired by many artist to want to bring back that feeling of Real Love and R&B. I want to recreate that feeling that you get once you hear a certain song palyed it automatically takes you back to when... I'll end it with this, I wake up to music, I live music, I breathe music and I just want to be able to share this God given gift with the world. It would be an honor to one day be able to look up and see my name next to the Legends and innovators of this music world we live in. To be alive when they call my name out for that prestigious award. Now that would be... #Priceless

"Slakah the Beatchild", or “Beatchild” as he is now known, has been making our heads nod with his signature soulful sound since the inception of his iconic Soul Movement Volumes I (2008) and II (2012). A compilation series of elegant, feel-good soul and hip hop written and produced entirely by Beatchild and featuring noteworthy artists such as Drake ("Bad Meaning Good", "Share"), Glenn Lewis ("Number 1"), Divine Brown ("Crate Love") amongst others.
In an unexpected shift of sound Beatchild followed up with an album under a new moniker - The Slakadeliqs. "The Other Side of Tomorrow” (2010) was a critically acclaimed album which pulled from hip-hop, soul, folk, pop, psychedelic rock - pretty much any sound found in a dusty crate of vinyl. Beatchild seamlessly blurred genre boundaries and created a sound for our future by drawing from the past.

Beatchild is often referred to as a genius in the studio and he has consistently blessed us with exceptional music that leaves his fans in eager anticipation for his next release.
