Roots in Madrid

Bleeps, sci-fi resonances and a lot of groove characterise Phranem’s sound.
Melomaniac based in Madrid, he was introduced to Techno over 10 years ago. Ever since he was little, he felt attracted to the sound of labels like Token, Axis, Klockworks or Blueprint, just to name a few.

Collecting music since then, it wasn’t until 2017 when he started to share his library in public, having played at events from the HEX collective and various venues in Barcelona and Madrid, such as Sideral or Ciclorama. He has also brought his sound to Georgia, to the respected Drama Bar in Tbilisi.

Hypnotic, energetic and varied sets, with an eye on the future but never leaving the past behind: this is what Phranem stands for.

Lights Out brings you an exclusive premiere from the new Brazilian uplifting dance music label Macro Hits. Founded by Amanda Mussi and Ananda (two DJs from Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, respectively, who have been at the forefront of the Brazilian rave scene). Their quest for tracks that fitted their intended musical target: groovy and made for the dancefloor tunes rather than those for hiding moodily in a corner.

Vernano, meaning Summer in Spanish, is a perfect name for this cut of melodic and Detroit-inspired techno. Perfect for those day parties or sunrise sets.

Shift to light speed with this exciting new project from Dutch producers Cosmic Force and Nuno dos Santos. Four straight up hardware techno tracks for sweaty bunkers and illegal warehouse raves.

Opening track Sub Mission makes you wanna dive in head first, with its testosteron infused driving energy and brutal kicks.

Klymat (here in two versions) is perhaps more subtle, but has the same goal. Just head towards that pit full of sweaty half naked bodies and dance your ass off. Listen how the loops (with beautiful subtle Indian tabla's) get the occasional push, like it is a vinyl record in a mix.

On Holy Growl it's back to the dirt in the machines. This is mean futuristic stuff for raised clenched fists and rubber hips. Head to the stars with Ultrastation.

Berlin based LXM steps in for our 155th Local Selection Mix with a carefully crafted techno mix. LXM has provided a masterclass three deck mix, full of incessant loops and grooves to soundtrack your Paddy’s Eve.

Louis McElveen has been hard at work in the studio, carving out a refined techno sound since his move to Berlin. LXM has been putting a large emphasis on hardware and minimal grooves into his productions, and this is shining right through to his DJ mixes.

Formally part of Armed Response Unit with longtime friend Will Boyle, Louis has shifted his style from industrial techno to a more stripped back and classic style of techno. Taking inspiration from artists such as Kaiser, Mattrixman, Dasha Rush and more, Louis has been working tirelessly to perfect this sound but with his own unique flavour.

While LXM has been quiet on the release front, he has a four track EP dropping on a Berlin label shortly, which is absolutely fantastic and shall be a perfect introduction to his newfound sound. The young producer will also be forming a new label, that will incorporate Irish producers and producers from afar to his deep vision. LXM also recently guested for fellow Dublin producer Aero’s Alternating Vitality show on 1020 Radio and the mix is an absolute cracker.

LXM’s Four Four mix is a prime example of Louis’s dedication to his craft over the last year. Never ending grooves and loops for an hour. Louis keeps the pace up and goes between tough and deep grooves, keeping an ever constant flow that doesn’t lean too heavy to either side. This is sublime mixing and selecting from a young techno craftsman at work.

Brutalism Showcase w/ DJ Chichi @refugeworldwide

Beater.gr presents the premiere of Rave Freaks In Isolation by Cosmo Lopez, which is included in the second compilation Sudor Vol.2 of Macro Hits. The purpose of this release, like the first one, is to highlight Latin American artists with tracks characterized by dancing vibes, modern, graceful air and energy that draws from the aesthetics of the art of urban graffiti. This one is distinguished by an enjoyable house mood with stimulating loops, which, in parallel, are "scattering" all over their daring, dancing "challenges" and hypnotizing us through an endless-summer pulse. Finally, the promising rather "full" in aspects sound manages to raise an "aesthetic bridge" between old and modern electronic sound currents, filling us with a long favorite euphoria.

Τέλος, ο «γεμάτος» ήχος καταφέρνει να προσδώσει μια «αισθητική γέφυρα»  ανάμεσα σε παλιά και σύγχρονα ηλεκτρονικά ρεύματα, γεμίζοντάς μας με μια αγαπημένη ευφορία.

Sciahri and his label Sublunar are proud to present the second chapter of the “Veil of Echoes” project, a continuation of a journey that connects emerging and established artists from the label.
Following the vision introduced in the first volume, this release unveils a new dimension of techno and electronic music, merging timeless roots with forward-thinking sound design.

The trip begins with “Voltages” by Cirkle, a sharp and direct cut built for the floor, followed by “Tides” by Red Rooms, an hypnotic journey driven by an entrancing vocal hook.
“Phonolith” by Border One brings a mental and groovy touch, while “Basic Instinct” by Hemka stands out for its captivating arrangement and refined sound design.
The first record closes with “Your Hands Forget Their Shapes” by Hadone, a truly memorable track destined to stand the test of time.

The second record opens with “The Radius” by Temudo, one of his most acclaimed digital tracks now available for the first time on vinyl, followed by “Etched” by Hurdslenk, a powerful and driving piece of precision techno.
Next comes “Nardo” by Pierre, a modern, groove-heavy weapon with a distinctive sound identity, and “Serpents” by Ketch & Alessio Landini, a hypnotic and tribal tool for any moment of the set.
Closing the journey, “Zone 0” by Danya delivers a mystical and immersive ending that transports the listener into another dimension.

With “Veil of Echoes II,” Sublunar presents a visionary collection that captures the essence of techno and electronic music, bridging its past influences with the sound of the future.
