Any artist is welcome to send us a track via freshonthenet.co.uk anytime between Monday lunchtime and Thursday morning (or when we receive 200 submissions, whichever is sooner) - and all our moderators, including Tom Robinson, will listen to every track. If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud Go tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which will be invisible to everyone. Primitive is the commentary on my personal feelings about the situations, that evoke the urge to change in time. This is a trial of contemplating reality via exploring emotional depths spliting them up into primitive chunks, something basic and primal for a brighter self-clarification to prepare to move on.

‘Overgrown’ is the new single by Aware, released on 20th March by Beat Filter/Integrity - 3 minutes of cosmic electronica featuring a '90s field recording of a Guatemalan Shaman talking about the Mayan pyramids in Chichicastenango.

The mystical ‘Overgrown’ was inspired by a visit to the Mayan pyramids of Guatemala, when many sites were still un-excavated and ‘overgrown’, having been reclaimed for centuries by deep forest. Mark explains:

“Our guide (whose voice features on the track) was a Shaman who told us that some of the hills we could see were actually hidden pyramids and that there remained many such undiscovered places. Using modern technology in 2018/19 it was discovered that this is in fact true and there are hundreds of unearthed Mayan sites in the region.”

Aware are Mark Lane and Tina Morrison.  Ibiza regulars since 2000, when cult label Hed Kandi was the first of many to add their tracks to chill-out and lounge compilations, Aware became a regular name alongside the likes of Röyksopp, A Man Called Adam, Bent and Zero 7 on the finest sunset albums, including releases on the iconic Café Del Mar label for whose 20th anniversary celebrations Aware played a full-band live set to a crowd 2000-strong.

The Birmingham-based duo prepare to celebrate the release of the 20th Anniversary Remastered Edition of their much-bootlegged debut album ‘Catch The Day’ which will be available digitally for the very first time on 22nd May 2020, followed by a new album in September.

When I released this track with Flower Power album November last year, never knew that would post it to the purpose. Now in Spring 2020, last year news were a picnic! We were about Xmas, end-of-year bonus was coming, we were talking about Trump impeachment... good times indeed.

Never posted it though, always thinking maybe today is just enough sht on the news already anyways. Also did not want to post on any specific event. Hoping maybe tomorrow we'll get a relief with something more positive than today. You know that feeling - disturbed, confused, concerned...

When I was a kid always watched that World News TV programs. One from '70s had some special catchy vibe on the opening soundtrack (sorry, I pay attention to any music in any occasion which soundtracks our life, and it stuck in you). Something like that always keeps spinning in my head since. This track, as many, made from scratch on the iPad surface with the Korg Gadget app. Something in between TV news opening jingle and one of my fav songs ever Vicarious by Tool. 

And this photo. I took a shot of this storytelling red brick wall, eaten by salt waters and sun, photo in Venice. The wall on Fondamenta delle Zattere, location of Ospedale degli Incurabili.

My emotions have been all over the place……like most people I guess. Always trying to see the best out of it, but struggling at times.  All this controversy about the virus. Trying to adapt and go with the flow. 
Anyway, today and the last few days have been glorious…..so warm and sunny. Looking at this bright blue sky cheers me up and gives me hope. So, enough dark thoughts, enough dark days.
