Nick Warren's The Soundgarden is proud to present its Miami Sampler 2019. Not only does this release showcase a select few of the tracks that Nick (and a bunch of his fellow electronic titans) will be spinning throughout this year's Miami Music Week (and Winter Music Conference), but it highlights some tracks that have been instrumental for Nick in the past few months. Featuring debuts, variety and interesting collaborations, this is the sound of The Soundgarden distilled into eight wonderful tracks.

Opening with Berni Turletti’s ‘Discovering Me’, a deep throbbing bass and Middle-Eastern wails provide ample evidence of why Berni is starting to make ever bigger waves. Diego Poblets follows up with ‘Karma’, a lighter affair that's full of classy sonic touches and a strong lead.

Kamilo Sanclemente teams up with Dabeat for ‘Theory of Silence’, a subtle melodic journey over 10 minutes that manages to be both resplendent and epic, while Memory & Ezequiel Arias work together on the eargasmic ‘Shen’. Oliver and Tom deliver two strong releases; firstly, ‘Remote Visions’ is a deep, richly engaging warm up with emotive strings, while the complementing track ‘Time Lapse’ is a funky bongo-led groover with a spoken-word male vocal.

Perfecto A&R, Oliver Harper makes his Soundgarden debut with ‘Landrake’ which follows on from the Buenos Aires duos vibe perfect(o)ly! Rounding out the pack is Irish wonder Shane Robinson with ‘Gemini’. Soundtracky and evolving, this is mind music at its most pure from one of the best sound designers in the business. It's the perfect way to round off a fantastic sampler - if this doesn't get you in the mood for sun, sand and grooves, then we're not sure what will.

Greek wisdom ripples across Lake Kerkini to recognise "The Rise" of Simos Tagias. Melodic shards resonate through the cool mountain air and jagged rhythmic backdrop juts out among the rocky outcrop. Brilliant sonic colour emanates from Australian gems as GMJ and Matter return to familiar European waters. A bassline firmly anchored in the bedrock provides a foundation for rippling arpeggios and twinkling keys to reverberate across the valley in endless waves.

Argentina mines another successful partnership in the form of EANP. Soaring skywards, "The Rise" hits new heights where familiar patterns are fused into fresh sonic formations that stretch out in pulsating configurations. A newcomer clicks into gear with popping percussive framework as another alley debutant combines innovation with craftsmanship. Organic sounds are sculpted into imaginative electronic waveforms as new melodic sequences and glissando bassline are bent to impressive Australian will via Barbour.

Roger Martinez’s Higher States concludes a successful year by welcoming Berni Turletti & Matias Chilano to the label for their debut EP. Perhaps best known for his releases on Sudbeat Music and The Soundgarden is Berni Turletti. With the backing of Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, the Cordoba resident has been tipped as one of progressive music’s future stars. Similarly, Argentinean artist Matias Chilano has spent time on the genre’s premiere imprints, most notably Sudbeat Music and Replug Records, while earning praise from Guy J and Patrice Baumel. Having worked together once previously for an EP on Juicebox Music, Berni and Matias now partner up once again for their Higher States debut ‘Identity / Sarayu’.

Drawing on a variety of smooth rhythmic concepts the EP begins with ‘Identity’. On a backbone of warm, buoyant beats comes mounds of perfectly contoured bass and a lively percussive cadence. Fluid yet electric, an atmospheric glow encases the framework, as timely stabs and effervescent effects unite in a perfect sonic marriage. The narrative shifts as energetic pulses initiate the main break, with buzzing sonics gently rising alongside the main melody, as the beats drop for a spirited finale.

The companion piece ‘Sarayu’ continues the progressive minded vibes of its predecessor. Vibrant stabs and spacey effects sit atop a full, rolling groove as the journey commences. Wintry overlays elevate mood as the first act evolves, perfectly setting the stage for an elastic-like arp to push momentum into the breakdown. Furthering its emotive appeal, the centrepiece melts down into a striking melody; reflective in nature, the cascading theme provides heartfelt moments, perfectly setting up a gentle crescendo as the groove gallops towards a stirring final movement.

With ‘Identity’ and ‘Sarayu’, Berni Turletti & Matias Chilano continue to build on their creative synergy, delivering two creations that will be firmly etched in the hearts of progressive music fans, rounding out a successful year for Roger Martinez’s Higher States.
