Originally from Lisbon, Portugal, Bruno C. Faria is a neo-romantic composer living in Boston, MA. His works, while stylistically romantic, are highly influenced by classical ideals that emphasize a musical language rooted in simplicity, clarity, and order, and with an interest in combining traditional musical language and structures with modern electronic methods and techniques - forming a hybrid between these two different sound worlds. The concept of time and spatial boundaries are challenged by incorporating ideas such as audio reversals and the manipulation of textures by way of electronic means. The end goal being a balance between the various schools of musical thought from its historical past up until the present day. He has composed music for solo instruments, chamber as well as large ensembles, electronica mediums, and has been, as of late, focused primarily on operatic and vocal works, having recently written a chamber opera (finalist for the 2021 American Prize in Opera Composition award) on the trial and last days of Joan of Arc, and is now in the beginning stages of writing a three act opera buffa with librettist Erick Blore, based on "The Importance of Being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde. He is an active member of the trios The Delicate Rising, Beleza Flux, and Beleza Rising. Bruno holds degrees from Berklee College of Music and Longy School of Music of Bard College. One day he hopes to pull a Thoreau, raise gardens during the day and build music boxes by night.

Madeline Ross, soprano, is pursuing a masters in opera from Longy School of Music at Bard College in Cambridge, MA, studying with Donna Roll. She has sung partial roles of Laurie in Copland's The Tenderland, Giulietta in Bellini's I Capuletti e i Montecchi and Najade in Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos. She graduated with honors from Willamette University in Salem, OR, with a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance and a German Language minor and studied with Allison Swensen-Mitchell. Ms. Ross sings jazz and classical vocal engagements as well as sacred music. In her time at Willamette she performed the roles of Susanna in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Frasquita in Bizet’s Carmen and Mary in Simon and Norman’s The Secret Garden. She performed her second Susanna with Portland Summer Opera Workshop under the baton of Luke Housner and most recently sang the role of Despina in Mozart's Cosi fan Tutte with Portland Summer Opera Workshop. Other roles include First Witch in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (Astoria Music Festival) and Sandman/Dew Fairy in Humperdinck’s Hansel und Gretel (ViVaCE).

Ms. Ross has competed as a finalist in the Portland SummerFest's Northwest Young Voices competition, where she sang for Maryann McCormick, Cameron Schutza and Angela Meade. She has received multiple honors and awards from the National Association of Teachers of Singers (NATS) Vocal Competition and was the winner of the Willamette University Chamber Orchestra's Concerto-Aria Competition. She was awarded the Brenna Hazzard Vocal Scholarship through Mu Phi Epsilon, the international music fraternity, of which she is an alumna. Miss Ross has participated in master classes with Ruth Ann Swenson, Wilene Gunn, Julianne Baird, and The Rose Ensemble. She is an experienced soloist in concert repertoire, opera, choral music, musical theater, and jazz. Ms. Ross is the recipient of two DownBeat awards for Best Undergraduate Large Vocal Jazz Ensemble as a member and soloist of the Willamette Singers.
