What and who is A Darker Wave?
We are a duo (jacki-e & p-mac) who present A Darker Wave every week only on NLive Radio, Circl8 Radio, Echo Radio & Chill Lover Radio. We put the show together in our home studio. The show is streamed worldwide on the internet. Each show is posted on our Soundcloud, Mixcloud, Hearthis.at, Podbean and You Tube pages once it has been streamed and presents the best in new techno releases.
We also play gigs as A Darker Wave and we have played at events in Germany and all over the UK.
The music we play is techno, tech house, deep house and anything else we like enough to include in the show.
Each show is 2 hours long. In the first hour we go into the mix with our featured EP of the week and the best of the new releases.
In the second hour we invite new and upcoming DJs to come onto the show and do a guest mix.

Why are you called A Darker Wave?
Dark Wave was first used in the 1980s to describe a dark and melancholy variant of new wave and post-punk music and was first applied to UK musicians such as Bauhaus, Joy Division, Sisters of Mercy, Cocteau Twins, The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Depeche Mode and Anne Clark. It was also used to describe artists who combined music with performance art, such as Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire, who challenged and explored the darker and obsessive sides of the human condition.

A lot of techno takes its spirit and ethos from this music, Listen to Throbbing Gristle or Cabaret Voltaire and you can hear the industrial sounds which are a staple of techno music today.

Techno is the outsider of electronic dance music, the punk of today's modern music scene. As Dave Clarke said in an interview with Mixmag, " Techno is edgy. Techno will challenge you......it's the real dark art."

Our radio show, in presenting the best in underground techno and deep house music, and in giving an opportunity for new, up and coming DJ's and producers, is providing an outlet for new techno, which is best described as being the new wave of modern dance music.

Not just a new wave, but with it's incessant bass rumblings, synthesiser drones, pounding drums, melodic top notes and eerie, distorted vocal samples, techno, in all its forms, is a backdrop to and a critique of our post-industrial, consumerist society, one in which our actions are observed 24/7, our democratic freedoms are threatened by our very own governments and our rights to do, think and act as we please are under ever increasing scrutiny. Techno really is A Darker Wave.

When we were listening to music in the 60’s and 70’s, before the electronic tentacles of technology infiltrated the world, we often thought, whilst listening to the likes of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Frank Zappa, Hawkwind, Captain Beefhart, New York Dolls and Roxy Music, where would music go to in the future? It could never be what was being portrayed in the science fiction movies of the time. Now we know. It can be anything. When we have a recording studio in our own home which is more powerful and versatile than anything available back then, we now know music can be anything and go anywhere. It is only the spark of our imaginations, or lack of it, that holds us back. On our laptop computers we have the capabilities that many artists back then would have given their right arms for. It’s for the uniqueness of the artist to express themselves to be able to stand out from the deluge of music available. Finding those gems is the modern day equivalent of crate digging and when you do, it makes it all worthwhile. Long live music!!!!

Born in Holland in a military family she traveled Europe then landed in the US and found home in Charlotte, NC. Finding EDM at a young age she started listening and engaging in the scene in the 90’s. She works as a Landscape Designer/Pool Designer and on her free time produces and creates mixes for a number of guest podcast while also having opening duties for several international headlining acts.

It all started in the early 90s with a mixer and 2 turntables, I started my first attempts to mix electronic music together. Musically I was influenced by synth pop acts like Depeche Mode, Visage, Georgio Moroder, New Order and Kraftwerk. It wasn't long before the first official booking came in 1994 at the “Kling Klang” club in Wilhelmshaven. This was followed by various resident clubs, various raves, parades and festivals, mainly in northern Germany, where I was allowed to play regularly for many years with vinyl and later also digitally. Musically, I would describe myself as techhouse, minimal techno, deep / melodic techno with partly house and bigbeat influences. I actively feed my SoundCloud page with a monthly podcast series and also supply various labels worldwide such as Bunte Liebe Records, Hometown Records HN, Deephouse Metropolis, Deep Melodies, Syzygy Podcast from Australia, Vibracion Universal Podcasts from Mexico and many more with fresh sets! For 4 years now I have also been a producer in a duo with my buddy Element3 under the name "SYN3RGY" with releases on "Vorwärts Music" and the fantastic label "Cho-Ku-Reï Records".

Kay Bauher was dedicated to the world of the early pace beginning with classical guitar and then switching to drums as a teenager. His passion has always been writing music.
Since 2000, first with a poor Pentium but soon on the Mac platform, musical experimentation focuses during many sleepless nights on virtual machines that will lead him to take the first steps with Ableton Live. The first live set in 2002, with almost 6 meters of machines between racks and mixer jack in a location surrounded by nature, was his baptize techno. With the help of Faith aka GordTheRogue experiences and explores the music, sound, and editing in its deeper layers.

In 2007, thanks to the TEN party and through some appearances in the music scene of northeastern Italy, Kay Bauher knows Rene Le Crois (RLC_LIVE), a future faithful partner with which direct the project composition-production editing of new and improved track original.

Reached a decisive stage of his artistic growth and always looking for new ideas, decides to change perspective and to go directly to the source of electronic music in an environment where they can be heard more. In Ibiza the first productions coming in 2013 with Silenth Dither, a single deep house produced by the American label Mindwarp Records of John Debo (Florida), to continue to Affect Recordings, a German label which produces various compilations and several EPs.
He is currently involved in several projects and collaborations. Due out in February 2017 with new EP Circus of Subwoofer Records [Laboratory] and coming soon on Triskel Tech Recordings Aztech.

Hi Berino here. Domestic independant music creator using assorted pc software to fashion hopefully listenable beats bleeps and noise.
