On an evening here in Sydney (that was honestly not nearly as nice as this cover would suggest) I recorded my first "Isolated Sunset" in over 2 years. What has come to be called "Organic House" at its worst can be beautiful but entirely forgettable, but at its best it can be powerfully evocative - using live instrumentation to create incredible sound scapes that communicate passion like no other sub-genre of House Music. I hope you enjoy the journey!

Spending quite a bit of time in Portugal is giving me some extra time to catch up on music and set recordings well overdue for my attention. This set is another slow burning collection of downtempo ethno house showcasing some of the more astonishing producers in the genre working today. For some this set's darker feel and slow tempo might distract from the rich, complex arrangements of the genre, but each track has consciously been given room to breath in the mix - to be its own fulfilling chapter of the larger story - and many of these tracks will surprise you with with their depth and emotional density. That said, I encourage you to listen late, listen loud, and to give yourself over to the next 90 minutes without distraction...

This is actually a recording of a pre-set rehearsal that I'm posting while we wait for the good (and apparently very busy) folk at Aeonica to get their shite together to post the actual set recordings. Most gigs that I play I will have at the very least a pretty tight "crate" of tracks to play from, or sometimes (as in this case) I will map out precisely what I want to play and when. The truth for me is that you can never really know what anybody is going to like, so I make the commitment to play what I love and trust that if I do my job properly then it's a journey that [you] want to take with me. Anyway, Los Vampyros (the name I gave to the very stylish Colombian festival goers who wear sunglasses while bathing in the lights from the stage) seemed to enjoy the set and I had a blast playing it for them. Once again it went boom.... went boom many times. Once again a totally unplanned journey playing to whatever was happening in front of me with visiting friends and art cars,  drone shows, fireworks and the constantly exploding propanes of the fire art all over the village created a very fluid dance floor and a very fun set.
