Based in València, the Spanish artist has continued to delight forward-thinking music connoisseurs with his daring brand of electronic futurism. An enthusiastic attitude towards experimentation, coupled with extraordinary creative vision has made Upercent one of the more unique artists to emerge in recent years. Continuing to explore and expand his sonic palate, the Valencia resident now returns with the much anticipated ‘Sentit Opost’.

Highly stylized across its five selections, it is the eclectic experimentation of ‘Agrair’ which sets the tone for the release. Backed by a buoyant cadence, a storyboard of stammered vocal edits and fluttery sax riffs delight against a backdrop of exotic drums and percussive fragments. Building with a subdued majesty, its smoky resonance makes you think but also feel, conjuring up otherworldly visions, perhaps from a time we’ve yet to experience. For Upercent, it’s a piece that holds special significance, not only for its arcane nature but for the time in which it was crafted.

Moving forward, Upercent’s avant-garde style raises the bar with the florid sounds of ‘Les Granotes’. Concise and stirring at under six minutes in length, its cerebral nature is enthralling, bound by themes that are both organic and electric. Although a pang of melancholia seeps out of each icy tone, there is a note of jubilance in Upercent’s discombobulated beats and militant design qualities. It’s this limitless exhalation that takes the Valencia resident back to his childhood, reflecting on a time where the roots of this creation ultimately lie.

Spectacular sonic acrobats unite on the project’s third selection ‘Atrapa’, an expression translated from its Valencian origins to ‘addicted to something you like’. Upercent’s rhythmic expression has always been one of his most identifiable and inimitable traits. Here he explores that narrative further with clever coactions between layers of machine-gun-like cadence, morphing vocals and lively percussive splashes. Its adventurous spirit is something Upercent relishes in, as he continues to survey his creative process.

Splitting moods between the exotic and dystopian is ‘Romancer’. A frenetic sci-fi delight, complete with the perfect balance of rhythmic crunch and diabolic distortion. Succinct in delivery and monolithic in design, it etches towards a darker monochrome, perfectly setting the stage for the collection’s closer and most experimental cut ‘Arquitecte’. A unique and entrancing sonic ecosystem accentuated by whimsical vocal fragments and ghostly electronics. A piece where Upercent stretches his creative scope further while remaining fluid within the confines of the release.

Often celebrated for his ability to blend, blur and cross-pollinate genres, Upercent has ventured further with the ‘Sentit Opost’ collection, into a time of true innovation, traversing a multitude of realms and dimensions, while excelling throughout.

Tripolism debuts with its first release on Metrica. The Danish trio of Brynjar, Rasmus and Frederik present "Loveless". The Ep is composed of four tracks, two originals and two remixes by the Spanish Adrian Roman and the Italian Ivory. "Loveless" is a very intimate track full of great feelings, the voice tells a beautiful story that is accompanied by a complex arpeggio and serves as a hook throughout the continuation of the track, this is complemented by a nice lead and an elegant drum rhythm. Adrian´s revision consists of interesting percussion and conceptual melodies without losing the essence of the original track, a great vision that becomes a bomb for the dancefloor. Ivory´s night call brings harmonic difference in his melodies, creating a more sentimental version where the bass line plays a very important role together with his chords. The Ep is completed by "Echelon", the perfect track to complete this release. An incredible composition full of originality in its structure with intense and constant melodies, its main synth will be remembered in your mind for a long time. Metrica´s fourteenth reference promises to be a hit, stay tuned Loveless will be a hit.

Damian Lazarus’ imprint Crosstown Rebels will release a solo EP by German DJ and producer Jonathan Kaspar in August. Transcending melodic techno and sultry house, the 4-track Overfree release echoes the cinematic but club-driven aesthetic of the Bonn-born artist.

Reflecting on his Overfree EP, Kaspar says he is "super happy about my first full solo EP with Crosstown Rebels and also about the four tracks which Damian selected for it. They somehow show a whole DJ Set of mine, containing different emotions and feelings: starting deep, peaking and ending conciliatory." Enter the rabbit hole through the title track and its constellation of starry synth notes and a chugging bassline. Magic. 

Ten floats in next as a slow-burning melody curls around a bleepy percussive pattern. On the flip, Kaspar goes deep via Piece Of, as staccato piano notes and a soft kickdrum evokes ethereal textures, the kind that marks the end of an all-night-long DJ set. Kaspar collaborates with Canadian singer and songwriter Graham Baxter on the closing track Unify. It's a sublime meeting of the minds as Baxter’s ghostly vocals collide with Kaspar's dreamy grooves and rippling bassline. Surreal synergies, made with the dancefloor and introspective listener in mind.

Jonathan Kaspar is a Cologne-based producer and DJ with an evolving collection spanning Cocoon, Innervisions and Kompakt. Kaspar's roots in dance music stem from his student days studying medicine, when he promoted parties in his native Bonn, Germany, to fund his studies. After graduating, he followed a winding road in producing and DJing and delivered his debut release on Upon You Records in 2015. A slew of solid releases followed suit on Objektivity, These Eyes, ouï and Kompakt. Like his productions, Kaspar's DJ sets convey stories, stitching a range of atmospheric tones and tingling melodies that capture his audience's imagination. He garners a residency at Cologne's esteemed Gewölbe club and enjoys curating all-night-long sets and inviting international names to play alongside him. Beyond Cologne, Kaspar's played at German institutions Watergate, Kater Blau and Fusion Club, as well as Volt Club in Milan, T7 in Paris and Extrema Open Air in Hasselt.

 Roy's first EP for All Day I Dream has continued to create quiet moments of magic for us since last Summer. 
Straight out the gate comes "When We Were Innocent'. It's one of those seemingly small tracks on headphones that when played out in the club it sneaks up on your dance floor when the bassline arrives. Especially after the main drop. Emotive with a tight groove it's a winner!
 "Gutfeelin" has a whimsical mood to it. It's not going to be for everyone that's for sure, but for those with an adventurous or more playful spirit it lingers long in the memory. A track constantly discussed on our socials and asked about it’s definitely got its own special vibe. 
 "Shadow Of Truth" walks the tightrope between breakbeat and 4:4. It's emotive journey wraps you in its arms and gives you a warm hug. Falling in love? Here's today's soundtrack to accompany that beautiful feeling. 
 Closing out the EP is 'Sudden Realization'. Smooth, deep and linear. A warm slice of groovy house. Best enjoyed with your eyes closed.
