Clocking in at just under 50 minutes in total, ZU encompasses a range of human emotions. There’s an underlying message in every one of the nine pieces here and it’s not for the fainthearted. Whitehurst and Pidluznyj might just have stumbled across their finest collection of material to date."

Paul  Sands  was  born  in  1962  and raised  close to  the River  Trent  in  Nottingham.  After attending  comprehensive  school in Selston he  worked  from  the  age  of 16 in the  IT  industry,  between playing in noisy  beat  combos, for  twenty-seven years  until  downsized and  outsourced in 2006. After  dallying with  photography  he  now lives and works as a leraning support assistant at a college of further education in Lincolnshire.

He  published his  first  collection of poetry,  Ego...Ergo, in June  2012 and followed that up with a collection entitled Scratch in July 2013. Both are available via most good online retailers (but I get more dough if you purchase via lulu.com)



This is not a begging letter, this is not a plea for validation or soothing words. This is a statement of fact. When I still owned musical instruments and could play a note or too I found it difficult to control. I wanted it to be all encompassing, my raison d'être. In 1999 I realised that I was kidding myself, I was just too ordinary, and that such desire was both unhealthy and damaging and consequently sold every item of equipment and software that I owned. Since then I have never played an instrument. I believe I may have reached another such singularity where the reality of the situation overwhelms the weight of my own expectation. Vanity and ego will take you to the edge of despair where you will then have to decide whether to jump or just toss an offering into the abyss, turn, and quietly trudge away. My offerings have been tipped over.
