'Aggelos first approached Lurid Music with the idea for this project a few months ago. We agreed on one condition, that all proceeds be donated to refugee causes, like we did with his Black Sea EP which supported the Syrian refugee crisis. When Russia invaded Ukraine, we decided our focus had to be helping the Ukrainian refugees who were forced to leave their homes in search of safe havens abroad.

We discussed this with most contributors to the project and the consensus was that donations should strictly go to humanitarian groups and not any armament funds. There were also some thoughts about helping conflict-affected peoples in other parts of the world but we decided it was too much to tackle for a relatively small project like this one.

Therefore, donations stemming from the sales of this release will be distributed to the following humanitarian groups currently active in Ukraine or neighboring countries welcoming refugees:

This illustration is an homage to Maria Prymachenko’s “May That Nuclear War be Cursed!”, which also inspired the title of this release. Burning the midnight soil, Wormbox is the amalgamation of two new age cats - Break Mode and Cole Baby - whose collaboration results in a euphoric trip that makes your feet glide against a smokey checkered floor. Their jams are uniquely sewn together by combining each of their distinct production styles, creating a truly singular sound. Pulling from all sides of their electronic and dance music predecessors, the outcome is just as delightful as it is unexpected, proving these worms are anything but grounded.

In this, their first offering, the two introduce you to their friend Kachina Sedona Max, a New Age Cat who enjoys drinking crystal water and meditating in the bathroom. This track is backed with the cosmic epic The Defender of Heaven.

Rounding out this release, Thomass Jackson brings a spritely psychedelic remix of a New Age Cat ripe for any dancefloor. Then Coast2c strips The Defender of Heaven down to the studs and runs it through a spin cycle.

Wormbox - A New Age Cat (Thomass Jackson Remix)

This place was unlike anything she'd ever seen before. Small white houses lined the winding streets, glimmering beneath the sun, and the city's inhabitants exuded joy, welcoming everyone with open arms. It was like something from a postcard or a fairy tale story. She'd envisaged somewhere like this in her mind, in many of her dreams too, but she never thought she could reach out and touch it. It had always been housed in her imagination; an invisible entity but now it was tangible - it truly existed.

As a founding member of Bourbonese Qualk, Simon Crab has long explored sounds from the fringes, whether that's in the electronic world or the spaces between new wave, industrial, electro, dub and post-rock, among others. After the disbanding of the group and a couple of long players under his own name, Crab took some time away from releasing music, until now.

Invisible Cities marks his third solo album and finds its home in the safe hands of Leeds imprint Space Ritual. Recorded last year at his studio in Hastings, with extra percussion and vocals from Fritz Catlin, David J Smith and Ksenia Sadovski, the compositions echo his formative influences and explorations from ambient, dub, experimental, soundtrack, new wave and more.
