Shaded is the new solo project of Skyler Taugher, one of the members of SHDWPLAY, whose releases to date have all been via Dubfire's SCI+TEC label, which speaks to his talent for stripped-down, big room techno. This four track EP bridges the gap between pumping, classic M_nus-style minimal techno and whatever it's more fun and modern counterpart is. 

Opener Sheshe has been a staple in label-boss Tiga's sets of late, a slick, energetic and eminently playable club record. Things get darker for Side Sippin and Jane Smith Goes To DC10 before closer Single Freax funs things up again in the closer slot with what sounds like a police siren on drugs under a vocal going “freak-freak-freak,” classic elements for effective party tools…

After being wowed by Christian Smith&#8217;s superb remix of Carl Craig&#8217;s &#8216;At Les&#8217;, the legendary Underworld listed it as one of their tunes of 2010 thereby planting a seed in the veteran producers mind.

A mutual appreciation and the aforementioned events have resulted in Smiths biggest remix yet the reworking of Underworld&#8217;s seminal Dark &amp; Long.

Coming in two versions, both of which have won immense support from the band themselves, the Christian Smith remixes of Dark &amp; Long take the track in to new territories respectfully and skilfully.

The Tronic Treatment mix preserves the vibe of the original perfectly while adding a condensed but slow burning feeling of tension which explodes into the epic break we all know and love.

The Hypnotica dub version underpins Karl Hydes classic vocal refrain and the rich synths of the original with an ever-changing, guttural monster of a bassline that adds a whole load of understated aggression without ever taking over the wonderful melodies.

John Digweed: Taking on such a classic track is no easy task but Christian has stayed true to the original and brought the track bang up to date with enough subtle elements and tweaks to make this rock the dancefloors all over again. A festival classic for 2011

The Bedrock summer season specials continue with an exceptional Techno themed remix package. The Japanese Popstars classic Matter Of Time (featuring Green Velvet) has been reimagined for 2020 with immense reworks courtesy of Coyu and OC & Verde, alongside a new Techno mix from the Popstars themselves.

Seven years ago The Japanese Popstars released their studio album Disconnect / Reconnect (BEDTJP01CD) featuring the huge Green Velvet vocalised anthem Matter Of Time. This track was designed perfectly for the darkest of dark rooms and the finest nocturnal festival craziness and has been crying out to be remixed ever since.

Coyu, the celebrated Catalan DJ/Producer, has made his mark on Suara Music by growing it into one of the most prominent labels in the world of Techno and House music. Ever the perfectionist, he has been tweaking and testing his gloriously unrelenting, raw tribal hard-groove Techno remix of Matter Of Time for a while now, and this final version is unquestionably an absolute monster!

The hyper-inventive Manchester duo OC & Verde make a welcome return to the label, following their superb 2018 rework of the Bedrock classic Heaven Scent (BEDDIGI128) with yet another remix tour de force. They unleash their distinctive interpretation in the form of a highly energetic throbbing acid-tinged melodic Techno extravaganza, and then let their magnificent machine manipulation step further into the spotlight with an additional instrumental dub remix.
The Japanese Popstars (namely the Northern Irish duo of Gary Curran and Gareth Donoghue) have a reputation to rival the biggest names in dance music as a must-see live act and purveyors of raucous, foot-stomping, energetic electronic dance music.
