

If you’re talking about exciting underground producers, two of the first names out of anyone’s hat should always be Igor Tchkotoua and Dan Duncan (aka Pig&Dan), whose distinctive mixture of influences has given them a sound that is both innovative and easily recognizable. Pig&Dan have been flying high over the past months with a series of exceptional releases, so you can be sure that their return to John Digweed’s Bedrock label is very special indeed.

The “4Play EP” opens with the fizzing slow-build title track that grooves and ebbs and flows with supreme creative confidence, teasing and toying in typical Pig&Dan style throughout. “Return To Mono”, with its deep, deep bass intro, builds some dark, twisted tension with a percussive edge into the equation. Finally, “Sofia” adds more melody from Pig&Dan’s broad artistic palette, creating a pulsating, hypnotic gem to round off this EP in style.

If you are familiar with Pig&Dan’s work, you’ll know they're always looking to push the envelope with genre-bending music and a devotion to creating something special that gets right under the skin. Their “4Play EP” for Bedrock is another perfect example of their collective genius.

Following last year's revered Silicon, Danny Daze releases his second for ULTRAMAJIC - Dual.

Of Cuban descent and raised in Miami, Daze grew up steeped in b-boy culture before beginning his exploration into the electronic music realms.

Praised for his diversity, his vision is to break sonic boundaries, whilst preserving music's integrity, both in the studio and behind the decks.

2014 saw Daze step up a level, with releases on Kompakt, Ellum and his first release for ULTRAMAJIC, which came through meeting Jimmy Edgar on the experimental scene, via labels including M3rck, Warp and Schematic. He also stepped back into the fashion world, scoring music for the Song for the Mute clothing brand.

Daze began 2015 with 'Four' - a collaboration EP on the intriguing new label Omnidisc. He also began a new experimental monthly podcast series entitled Sunday Morning, and recently delivered a dark and beautiful remix for Marc Houle's Talk to me Baby on Minus.

Next up is his second for ULTRAMAJIC, Dual, representing two facets of Daze's sound, including the hypnotic frequencies of 'Ready2Go' versus the striking warehouse of 'Rhythm Box'.
"On 'Ready2Go' I wanted to make a track that is driving and influenced by dryness. The bassline and synth bell tone are very dry and represent a Detroit techno sound that has always influenced me. With 'Rhythm Box', I wanted to make a pounding techno record with good drums. The vocal influence came from an old movie, called 'Liquid Sky', one of my go-to movies for inspiration.“

Marc Romboys exceptional Bedrock debut is one to treasure for a long time to come.

Top techno label !Organism serves up the forceful goods once more with another no nonsense EP, this time from Christian Cambas backed with a fine remix from Alex Di Stefano.

From being a Top100 DJ when it actually mattered, to topping Beatport charts, Christian has carved his own path through the countless peaks and troughs of this industry. When name dropped now, he is mostly associated with the groundbreaking 1605 label, led by Slovenian Techno overlord Umek. As well as producing on Bedrock, Toolroom and Great Stuff, he is also involved in Press &amp; Play, which acts as home to his own label Sabotage.

Up first is the rib-rattling, industrial tinged techno stomper that is Chained. With a soft white noise backdrop and cantering kicks, this one rolls on and on and will keep marching dancers locked for the duration. 

Italian veteran and frequent Beatport chart topper Alex Di Stefano is on remix duties next. His to-the-point version of Chained is a fulsome, texturally rich roller with hiccuping snares, blurts of bass and plenty of drive. 

Closing out the package is the equally impressive Durged, which burrows deep into a streamlined drum line as scurrying details, monstrous synth animals and teeth gritting percussive lines all unfold before your very ears. 

For fans of proper techno with no frills, this is another perfect release.
