In the last two to three years @Olivier-Weiter has grown from an obscure DJ into an established name in the Amsterdam scene. With his dream-woven sets characterised by Olivier's brand of accessible deep techno, he has hypnotising many a dancefloor in and outside the Netherlands. Because he is also a welcomed guest in Germany, where he has brought his sessions to clubs such as Wilde Renate, Kater Holzig, Watergate and Loft Club. 

On the production side things are coming along now as well, with his brand new upcoming EP on Einmusika: 'Takkie', due this November.

John Digweed and Nick Muir's partnership has been one of electronic music's most fruitful pairings, leaving a body of work that’s seen them become one of the world’s most highly regarded production duos. While science fiction and electronic music have intertwined at numerous points since the emergence of the genre – from Jeff Mills to Global Communication and beyond - together with bestselling author, John Twelve Hawks, Digweed & Muir have taken the relationship into new territory and the album, ‘The Traveler’, is the result of this symbiotic connection.

Hawks wrote his trilogy of ‘The Traveler’ novels while listening to Digweed’s mix albums and weekly radio show, Transitions. After contacting the UK DJ and producer and an exchange that crossed several years (for reasons John outlines below), they agreed to work together to bring Hawks works to life via a collaborative album, and with Hawks as the narrator. The end result saw Hawks travel to the UK in secret, (he lives ‘off the grid’, hiding behind a secret identity due to his beliefs regarding the intrusiveness of the modern state and digital society – themes that are central to his work) and recorded his spoken word contributions to accompany an electronic music soundtrack created by Digweed and Muir. The meeting took place in the “middle of nowhere”, Hawks then disappeared back to whence he came, and the three have had limited contact since.

‘The Traveler’ is a unique and fascinating album, providing a listening experience that exists far beyond the dancefloor – though the track ‘3B3’ will be released as a single including a picture disk format. The music draws the listener deep into the world of ‘The Traveler’, brought further to life by Hawks spoken word passages taken directly from the novel. The accompanying physical release features extensive sleevenotes and artwork, making it an extremely collectable item for fans and beyond.

JOHN DIGWEED SAID:
“It all started when a copy of the book The Traveler was sent to me from John Twelve Hawks publishers with a letter explaining that John had been listening to my Transitions Radio show while writing the book and wanted me to have a copy as a thank you. Due to my busy schedule it wasn’t until the following year when I was on holiday that I finally got a chance to read the book. From the very first page I was hooked and couldn't put it down until it was finished.”
Digweed continues:
“I left a little thank you message in Jan 2009 thanking John through his website and didn’t think any more about it. Fast forward to Oct 2010 when, in the course clearing out my junk emails, I came across a reply from John Hawks himself - which I had completely missed. You can imagine how I felt! I responded straight away and this is an extract from the reply I received:
“I just wanted to say that I've followed your career over the years and have always wondered if we could create a project together. Contacting you was not a casual action. I know what you've done. In fact, while I'm writing this, I'm listening to GU 006: Sydney. I played what I call the "dark" CD -- CD 1 -- hundreds of times while I was writing book two of the trilogy, The Dark River. I'm bringing it up because -- like any good DJ -- you were able to establish a building momentum, a mood and a climax. This is what any dramatic form does: a film, novel or play.”

“So I thought, why not mix genres? A telephone conversation was arranged with John on his satellite phone, conducted via his voice scrambler that he uses on all his telephone conversations. We agreed that Nick and myself would attempt a project consisting of music based on passages from the book and after some initial discussions, it was decided that John Twelve Hawks would be the narrator. This posed a problem however, as John maintains strict secrecy about his identity in order that he may express his ideas about modern day threats to personal liberty more freely. At first, a meeting with him seemed out of the question. So we tried recording his voice down the phone through his voice changing software, but it quickly became obvious that we would need to record him directly in order to ensure his narrated contributions were clear and fully audible.”

“We put this to John and he graciously agreed. We arranged a meeting with him, 'off the grid' as he puts it,
in the middle of nowhere. He duly arrived at the appointed time, obviously we can't say anything about this meeting, what he looked like or how he was as a person as this would betray his trust; however, all went well and we recorded his narrated passages which he delivered perfectly like the consummate professional he is. And then, after a few brief pleasantries, he was gone as quickly as he had arrived. We haven’t seen him since, nor spoken to him save for a few communications relayed on email from his protected account.

“His contributions have been treated and changed with software in a variety of different ways on the album and the original recordings of his voice have been deleted to further protect his identity. These measures may seem drastic but this is how he wishes to conduct his career as an author in relation to the subject matter he deals with and we completely respect that. He is a perfect example of how it is possible to operate within an underground culture and we are privileged and delighted to bring a musical perspective to his ideas.”

It's true that hard work and dedication are the key to success, which young North-Eastern star Denney realised in 2012 when his first smash hit 'Ultraviolet' was signed by the infamous Hot Creations camp, leading to huge international success. He was fast named 'Future Hero' in Mixmag and the track held a strong position at Number 1 in the best selling vinyl chart on Juno and gained him support from heavy-weights Sasha, Damian Lazarus, Seth Troxler, MANDY, Pete Tong and many more. 

Prior to this Denney had spent years playing at club nights around the North of England and working for the legendary Back to Basics in Leeds. With hours spent educating himself on music, networking and spending countless hours in the studio he soon began to reap the rewards of his hard work with releases on highly acclaimed labels such as VIVa Music, Saved Records, 2020 Vision and of course Hot Creations. 

Denney's undeniable talents as a DJ have lead him to play all over the world including Europe, Australia and America, with a highlight at the notorious DC10 in Ibiza for Jamie Jones' Paradise. His style is unmistakable with a unique blend of house and techno with a distinct ability to create a special atmosphere. Playing alongside some of the world’s biggest names, Denney has shown a modest, unfaltering style - whether playing a warm up or main room set he always delivers.

2014 has been Denney's biggest year yet. With things moving rapidly from strength to strength he now holds a residency at the club night Back to Basics, which is a huge honour and holds major importance for him. He's also just been signed to NGE Agency, who look after artists such as Jamie Jones, Damian Lazarus and Art Department, with an intensive touring schedule including a debut at the legendary Fabric in London already in place for the rest of the year. VIVa boss Steve Lawler is also fully behind the young star signing him to VIVa Music Management, which is sure to open even more doors. His release schedule is also just as busy with releases and remixes coming up on Saved Records, VIVa Music, Hot Creations, Resonance Records, Sidetrak Records and a special anticipated collaboration with Miguel Campbell for his forthcoming album. 

2015 is looking even bigger with a summer residency already confirmed for VIVa Warriors in Ibiza as well as tours being put in place for North and South America. It's safe to say this talented northerner is only at the beginning of his career.

Emotional house and techno crooner Joris Voorn finished 2014 on a high, with his chart topping record 'Nobody Knows' on his Green imprint being dropped to much acclaim and support across the scene.

Guti takes Joris in deep with this one, shunning the pretty house-highs and swapping them with some harder dancefloor flex. The Argentinian producer is known for his his own intricate style of melody-focused house and techno, and this collaboration with one of the scene's hottest acts at the moment is a a real gem.

Joris Voorn's 'Nobody Knows' (Remixes) are out on May 19 and feature other remixes from Kolsch, Christian Loeffler and more.

'Jam #1' is an ode to these low-slung techno roots, a stripped-down bonus beat that lays down the law of the drum machine, and sets the stage for the forthcoming '808 IRAQ' pulled from the same Berlin studio-session, to be released on BNR.

Jan Blomqvist is a Berlin-based live electronic artist, whose signature melancholic vocals, introspective melodies and lush beats are celebrated throughout the international dance music scene. With his band he performs dance-oriented electronic pop; as a solo artist, vocal techno.

As a child Jan was always singing. His open-minded parents immediately saw and encouraged his natural talent by exposing him to a variety of music and by giving him his first guitar. Fortunately or unfortunately he was not allowed to join the school band, so instead he formed his own band in a caravan in the woods. There they were free to play whatever music they wanted, which at that time was mostly melodic grunge and punk rock. While the band had moderate success it seemed unrealistic that it would become a career option at that point so after high school Jan, who was always keenly interested in the sciences, began studying aerospace engineering. Then, at the age of 21, he saw his first techno DJ and realized an alternative path in which music could in fact be a profession for him.

Jan continued making music, sharing his nights between producing and working at Berlin’s Week-End club where he earned enough behind the bar for even the odd educational trip to a Radiohead concert or sunday picnic at Bar 25. Through these inspiring experiences he began to form a new goal for himself as a musician, to bring a concert atmosphere to the dancefloor through strong vocals, detailed minimal beats and minor key melodies that are actually somehow uplifting. And more generally, to break up the monotony in the techno nightlife by injecting some pop and rock sensibilities back into the club scene.

In 2011 he got his first big break, a prime time slot at the fusion festival in front of 3000 people right before a big rainstorm. Then after 2 popular releases on Dantze and Stil vor Talent Records he got his next lucky punch, a beautiful video of a flawless live concert performance on the rooftop of Week-End club, which immediately went viral on YouTube and now has almost 2 million hits. This seamlessly flowed into what is now over 250 gigs in three years in places like Moscow, Paris, Istanbul, New York, Rome, Copenhagen, Brussels, Amsterdam, Milan, Athens, Budapest, Beirut, Tunis, Naples, Bucharest, Warsaw, Zurich, Marseilles, Montpellier, Thessaloniki, Munich, Vienna, London, and Dubai.

But in the background of all this and his numerous other collaborative releases Jan has been steadily working on his debut album, taking all the time he needs to get everything perfect. And its getting close now. Sonically it stays true to the big club sound and dark melodies that he is known for.

“It’s that imperfect sound that makes us,” Jan explains. “Emotional, honest, authentic, detailed, big-bassed, sometimes atonal, but mostly just indifferent to the rules. Because, more often than not, it is that wry-ish note that give you goosebumps.”
