Having garnered support from the likes of Sasha, Joris Voorn, Hernan Cattaneo & John Digweed, the EP sees the tracks totally reimagined. It's a pleasure today to welcome Polymod aka Shadow Child with this reworked breaks beauty of The Solent.

Grammy nominated engineer, producer and songwriter Steven Weston has engineered for the likes of Rudimental and Chronixx as well as having toured the world playing keyboards for the likes of Ladyhawke, Charli XCX and Mikky Ekko. His label Blank Dust is borne out of a love of electronic music and the hours he’s put in over the years collaborating with other artists.

The first remix on this new EP comes from Simon Neale (AKA Shadow Child), working under his Polymod moniker. A former tutor of Steven’s, Polymod takes The Solent off into a completely different direction. The track, which has already been supported by the likes of Sasha, is an intelligent breakbeat version that perfectly showcases both Polymod and Weston's unique styles.

Next, Anjunadeep’s Jon Gurd reworks Dalston into a euphoric breakbeat ‘hands in the air’ moment. Having both grown up in Portsmouth, Steven used to go and watch Jon DJ in Bournemouth’s Slinky whilst he was still underage.

German electronica producer Aparde then gives his spin on Angel Saint Claire, delivering a mix that takes you on a journey through downbeat and moody territories, into the club with a four-to-the-floor, before taking it on the night bus home on a comedown; all in the space of 5 minutes.

Next, Mikky Ekko delivers his first ever remix for another artist, fittingly for Steven Weston who has been Mikky’s music director for the last nine years. Mikky, who is known the world over for co-writing, co-producing and performing on Rihanna’s 2012 hit Stay, delivers a glitchy and powerful remix of Everything Is Beautiful.

Alex Paterson’s legendary ambient house outfit, The Orb, round off the EP by taking The Solent and morphing it into an expansive seven minute meditation, creating some of their finest ambient output in the process.

Hot on the heels of Luke Brancaccio & Simon Berrys enthralling original version of Close Your Eyes comes an explosive new interpretation, courtesy of two the scenes most respected creative mavericks - John Digweed and Nick Muir.


Having been fired up by recent collaborative projects with Gabriel Ananda, Darren Emerson, and Eagles & Butterflies , the revered studio duo have sculpted yet another monster track, thats currently featuring as the mind-blowing finale in John Digweeds DJ sets.


This inspired treatment exhibits a totally wild, noisier, edgy attitude. By stripping back the original arrangement, chopping-up the infectious vocal hook, and injecting some jaw-dropping bombastic thunder into the equation, they have re-built their alternative take on Close Your Eyes as a Techno colossus of the highest order.


Between them, John Digweed and Nick Muir have been involved in many pivotal moments in the world of club music over the past 20 years and have, in many ways, helped to define genres & continue to push boundaries further. This latest Versus project is yet another positive mission statement, showing they never rest on past laurels, but always challenge themselves musically, exploring exciting new directions.

German music maestro Florian Kruse is next up on Sasha's imprint Last Night On Earth with an incredible package featuring two original tracks and an unbelievably good rework from Julian Wassermann.

'The Tide Is Turning' is a solid atmospheric techno builder, with a beautifully deep rolling groove. Soft modulated arp lines pan the stereo field, growing in velocity and resonance, around minimal percussion and a round full bass line.

Florian makes wonderful use of progressive percussive movements in the track 'Zog', flowing through different hi hats and syncopated hits, adding pace and varied textures. Drone pads float in and out of the track as it peaks and drops alongside a chunky stabbed topline, creating a brilliantly dynamic sound.

'Zog' then gets a hefty remix from Julian Wassermann who injects a wickedly dominant beat, tonnes of creative synth work and glitchy textures. Solid work.

After a great start to the new decade, @heinzmusic-berlin welcomes back head of the famous label Katermukke, mr. @dirtydoering himself. Between his tours to all the corners of the world, he finds some time to hit the studio and create his characteristic gems.

Which brings us to the track "Dreamlines". Smooth lines of synths caress the grooving body. It is dreamy and sexy at the same time, with playful elements appearing and disappearing around the vibrating main synths, working its way towards the massive break moment.
