Renaissance drops a rare single…

It’s not often Renaissance do singles in the purist sense these days. So, when a solo release does come along it has to be something very special indeed and, in the case of forthcoming release ‘Sisters’, there can be no better example.

The product of three of the scene’s brightest talents, who boast a collective discography of Innervisions, Get Physical, Bedrock, Sum Over Histories, Mobilee, The Soundgarden, Still Vor Talent, TAU, Anjuna, Humans By Default, Multinotes and more… there can be no denying the trinity of Verlk, Santiago Garcia and Steve Smith as a unique proposition that doesn’t come around very often.

But, as they say, the proof is in the pudding and ‘Sisters’ certainly puts salted in the caramel; rum in the baba and spotted in the dick (that’s a very British desert for anyone who wants to Google it)! Starting life as a little known Ska-esque ditty from Argentina, the track is re-imaged into a beautiful, yet slightly edgy, melodic techno bomb. “It was very much a global football for a bit,” begins Verlk, “I’m in San Francisco; Santiago, Ibiza, whilst Steve’s in London.”

“I laid down the vocals in my studio,” continues Steve, who you may recall from his heady days as lead singer of Dirty Vegas, “then fired it over to the guys to work their magic.”

“Steve’s amazing voice suited the track perfectly. They’re a great, emotive foil for the twistiness Verlk and I injected into the production. It’s a deft balancing act which we hope works well and has certainly been going down a storm during road-tests in my recent sets,” concludes Santiago.
