And here we are, just as promised, exploring the dark corners of Nick Lapien; the man otherwise known as Metropolis. This time around, he comes back with a pair of extended cuts that veer off into heretofore unexplored terrain, relishing in detail with a sharp focus on momentum and lyricism. "Glow," the A side, uses a basic 2-note sine wave bass line and a 136 BPM kick as the backdrop for a 13+ minute descent into a thicket of static and clattering modular craftiness—a pathway into the unknown through auditory hypnosis. On the flip side, "Rebuild," a milder 4/4 beauty, uses a soft bass riff for its duration as shuffling synth experimentation stretches the stereo field. A long trumpet solo by Mark Nieuwenhuis casts a soothing, mournful light into the piece. Immerse yourself into the sounds and let yourself be guided, let yourself be found.

Landside is the  debut collaboration between Italian producers Hunter/Game and the Icelandic band Kúra.
The sound draws as much from the deep vibe and  melancholy ambience of Kúraʼs  reflective, dubby moods, as the more insistent groove of Hunter/Game's dancefloor roots.
Fanney Osk 's vocals  are like clear warm breath in a cold mountain breeze.  
Vibrating  waves are set against synths and melodic leads that break the languid feel like the arrival of an intense storm.

In this first remix EP, two wildly different producers offer up their own original takes.   
Max Cooper's remix is as gorgeous and melodic as always, setting Fanney's vocals floating over a sea of warm synth work and surprisingly driving percussion.  Benjamin  Damage, meanwhile, fires hard into the dancefloor, digging  a channel of tough grooves  within the ambient melodies and mellow vocals.

After a 2-year hiatus from the mothership, Kim Brown return to Just Another Beat with a new 12“, including the brand-new track “Visiona 1970“ and an exceptionally impressive remix of “Nabi“, one of the outstanding tracks off their debut album “Somewhere Else It’s Going To be Good“, beautifully executed by Quarion.

It was Quarion aka Yanneck Salvo himself who approached the Berlin-based duo, being eager to work on his own version of the track and taking it to the next level. The result equals en epic transformation. Using only the key melodic elements of the rather quiet and lush original, Quarion’s version is much more than a remix. It’s more like a cover version, showcasing his own unique approach of how to first dismantle and then carefully, bit by bit, rebuild the peak time moment of the dancefloor. Clocking in at just under 10 minutes, to be enjoyed best from start to finish, this is a voyage extraordinaire.

On the flip, “Visiona 1970“ presents Kim Brown in a glistening rainbow of deep colours. With freely shuffling hi-hats, intimate percussion and some of their most beautiful melodies yet, this track marks a turning point for the project. Having mainly released remixes for other artists recently, Ji-Hun Kim and Julian Braun have been constantly working on a new album as well, which will finally see the light of day not long after the release of this EP. In the meantime, please enjoy these 2 tracks.

Exclusive Hoshina Anniversary 'Zangai (Ricardo Tobar Remix)'

Amsterdam label MUSAR continues 2019 with another artsy release on the label by Hoshina Anniversary, who delivers four tracks that are taken all together under his 'Zangai EP'. The Tokyo based artist seems to be on fire releasing an album, 'Nihon No Ongaku / 日本の音楽' as well as his long awaited 'Hakkenden EP', recently. No less expected is 'Zangai', a track that has been heavily played out by Lena Willikens and is a driving acid paean. Ricardo Tobar, who was responsible for MUSAR's latest EP 'Nadivi', took on remix duties for the EP's eponymous track. With this remix it becomes clear why Ricardo is one of the producers to look out for. A rolling and rattling bass line rides the listener through the first episode of the track before the lead synth sets in and the rattling is switched off. After that it's darkness that takes over until pad sounds and background layers remain and kind of simulating a musical moment of silence. The aforedescribed rattling then returns and is enriched with bleeps and chords, whose tonal array digs into one's mind as if Tobar planted an anthem in the back of our mind.

Hoshina Anniversary's EP 'Zangai' will be released on MUSAR on June 14th, 2019.
