Behind the Mind are a Melbourne metalcore band. Originally a progressive metal band influenced from the likes of dream theater, founders Matt Fackrell and Liam Whittle began the band off with new songs that eventually formed the first demo EP- "Concussive EP", featuring popular song "Cataclysmic Sincerities". The band had a number of lineup changes, and eventually changed the focus to Metalcore. With new vocalist Niall Garrett and guitarist Wojtek Tomczyk, a big change to the sound was the introduction of scream vocals and metalcore structures in songs, although the progressive influence has meant the level of complexity in melodies is still clearly evident. The bands career highlights include performing at the Espy artist showdown semi finals, and winning the peoples choice award at Thornbury theater with Melbourne fresh. The latest single "OMFG Zombies"which was released on Friday 24th May 2013 shows the bands heaviest song yet, involving elements of groove metal, and is a free release to introduce the EP the band will record and release in later months.
