Our 15th episode with Yuka.

Yuka is a female DJ now based in Moscow (where she has lived since 1998), but who began her career in distant Bratsk, Siberia. The town - a local industrial center - is probably more famous for what it dumps than what it makes; in the recent past it was listed as one of the thirty most polluted cities in the world. It wouldn't take much persuasion for someone to move on... Yuka's preparation for a shift to the capital's nightclubs was lengthy, however, since music had played an important role in her life since the age of 6.
Over time, her passions moved in the direction of painting, sculpture, and design - activities she continues to this day. That initial school-day enthusiasm at the piano would eventually win out, though, and dictate her choice of higher education. Her musical training thus led to a degree from the Irkutsk Arts Institute, where she no doubt studied under her real name, Irina Solobutova.
Now that she's fully ensconced in Moscow, her music appears regularly through the outlets of four labels: Fullpanda, Semantica, Silent Season, Pro-Tez. She is a resident of Fullpanda label parties named ALL YOU NEED IS EARS.
 
"All musicians can be compared to bird-catchers, especially those hunters who'd go looking for songbirds. Some of them would search for a particular type: a nightingale or a lark, perhaps. Others, conversely, would hunt nothing but exotic birds. Once they were caught, the birds would be kept in cages made from sheet music or boxes cut from concert programmes."  Yuka.

PL: Gościem piętnastego odcinka BTS Podcast  jest Yuka – dj’ne mieszkająca w Moskwie od 1998 roku. Swoją karierę rozpoczynała w odległej miejscowości Brack na Syberii. Miasto jako lokalny ośrodek przemysłowy jest  jednym z trzydziestu najbardziej zanieczyszczonych na świecie, to dobry powód na wyniesienie się stamtąd. Droga Yuki do klubów nocnych w Moskwie była długa, muzyka w jej życiu odgrywała ważną rolę już od wczesnych lat dzieciństwa. Z biegiem czasu jej pasje przeniosły się również w kierunku malarstwa, rzeźby i wzornictwa, działalność tą kontynuuje do dziś. Muzyka w jej życiu jednak pozostała na pierwszym miejscu, fascynacja i entuzjazm jakim pałała do gry na fortepianie doprowadził ją na studia muzyczne w Irkuckim Instytucie Sztuki gdzie studiowała pod prawdziwym nazwiskiem - Irina Sołobutova. Jej muzyka regularnie pojawia się na takich labelach jak Fullpanda, Semantica, Silent Season czy Pro-Tez. Jest rezydentką imprez "All You Need Is Ears" sygnowanych przez Fullpanda Records, którego jest założycielką.

"Wszystkich muzyków można porównać do myśliwych którzy szukają ptaków śpiewających. Część z nich będzie szukać określonego typu: Słowika i Skowronka, inni być może skupią się na ptakach egzotycznych. Gdy w końcu je złapią, ptaki te będą trzymane w klatkach wykonanych z blachy muzyki lub w pudełkach wyciętych z programów koncertowych"  Yuka.

Death & Leisure is excited to welcome back Jerome Tcherneyan and Barkosina Hanusova as the incredible Years of Denial for a special split 12” with Maenad Veyl , the brand new project from italian producer Thomas Feriero. 

Years of Denial deliver a heavy synth wave techno classic with “We Operate On Each Other” , and the pounding hypnotic “ Numeric Affairs” 
Maenad Veyl starts things off on his side with the broken percussion of “Paint The Ossuary” , after that we get the slow dragging darkness of “Tell Me Secrets” and lastly “Who You Could Not” with its drilling synths and noise.
