Born in the wilderness of rural Canada, Daniel Gardner spent his formative years in relative isolation, serenaded by the supernatural sounds of the environment in which he inhabited. Not content with his traditional schooling, he spent wintery nights tuned into a distant university radio station, recording weird and wonderful electronic music onto a cassette tape which hung from the ceiling to study musical structures. It wasn't long before he began sampling his habitat and creating sonic landscapes of his own, as surreal and serene as his surroundings.

My Cat Snoop arrived on the scene back in 2015. He dropped his first releases that summer on Deep Tech Records,Yoruba Grooves & Dark Face Recordings. These slabs of techy analogue grooves immediately picked up support from many major players in the industry. The tracks performed very well with ‘Use Your Head’ reaching the top 10 on the Beatport Minimal Chart, and the track ‘Drugs’ making the top 20 at the same time.

Since then he hasn’t looked back and started working on his next slew of tracks. Needless to say he upped his game quite considerably, signing his next 3 releases to Claude Von Stroke’s Dirtybird, new school power house Underground Audio and also to Nicole Moudaber’s MOOD imprint. Not a bad place to be after only entering the affray one year previously! 

The fall of 2016 saw Snoop release on Madtech and W&O Street Trax. Then 2017 started off with a release on Philip Bader’s Out of Mind, with further releases dropping on W&O Street Trax, a debut on New York’s In Motion, an exclusive track featuring on Toolroom’s Ibiza 2017 album, and then to finish it off with a bang he debuted on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax with his ‘Repeat EP’ including a Nathan Borato Remix. This EP performed particularly well with 3 of the 4 tracks climbing high in the genre charts. Jamie loved this EP so much he then signed another EP to Hottrax, released in 2018, and he finished off that year with follow up releases on W&O Street Trax & Underground Audio.

Not one to sit still, in 2019 Snoop has already signed releases to Solardo’s Sola, and taking a giant cat like leap up onto Adam Beyer’s Truesoul. With more big signings in the pipeline, along with some new and innovative projects he is working on, this year looks set to be an explosive one for this exceptional talent.

So what’s Snoop’s story? My Cat Snoop is the alter ego of Brighton resident Gregg Ashley. No new guy on the scene by any stretch. Gregg has been DJing and producing for many years, but decided to roll out with My Cat Snoop to freshen things up. Over the years Gregg has performed with the likes of Santé, Matthias Tanzmann, Richy Ahmed, Steve Lawler, at clubs such as Circus, Lightbox, Fire, The Egg, The Arch and is now a regular headliner at the infamous ABODE parties and festivals. He has lived in Ibiza during some summer seasons playing for Sankeys & Bora Bora, and attending many of the island’s best events, sucking in the sounds, and getting ready to pounce as My Cat Snoop when the time is right. Some follow trends, others set them. Award-winning music producer & live performer Rodriguez Jr. also known as Olivier Mateu has spent 25 years in the industry. His vast experience in all genres of electronic music makes him the visionary of melodic house and techno that he is today.
Over the years he has gradually honed his style into the dynamic, colorful sound of beauty that can now be regularly found on Mobilee, Anjunadeep, Systematic, Armada and demanded for on remixes of Stephan Bodzin, Booka Shade, Eli & Fur, Röyksopp, NTO, Timo Maas and more.

Drawing inspiration for his live performances from the vintage synthesizers, keyboards and dusty analog gear of his studio in Paris, Rodriguez Jr. relishes the opportunity to travel the globe and realise his project on stage. In doing so he has amassed a devoted and loyal fan base through the creation of his unique movement. Some of the most recent acclaimed shows featured huge festival performances at Sziget (Hungary), Lightning in A Bottle and CRSSD (both California), Paraiso and Sonar Festival (both Spain). Continuing to blur the boundaries between electronic and organic like few others can, his extensive touring schedule sees Mateu at world-renowned clubs every week, taking him to the likes of Solumun’s party at Destino Ibiza, Fabric London and Space Miami.

Not stopping there, Rodriguez Jr. has formed a special musical partnership with former Nouvelle Vague vocalist Liset Alea. The pair met 15 years ago creating music for Laurent Garnier´s label, and through their ongoing live RJLA project, they tell sonic stories, fusing organic charms of live instrumentation with cutting-edge music for the dancefloor and presenting this at selected events. This culminated in an extraordinary audio/visual display for broadcast pioneers Cercle, with a unique performance at the carefully selected idyllic location of Falaises d’Etretat, showcasing their captivating live electronics.

On the production front, Mateu has continued to have an exceptional output, with his last release on Mobilee Radian entering the Beatport top ten within three days following release. Another highlight was his full Anjunadeep debut on the eclectic double-cut entitled Phoenix/Amargosa. Alongside this his remixes have also been received with equal merit on labels such as Crosstown Rebels, Systematic or Poker Flat. His latest reworking of Eli & Fur on Anjunadeep made it to number three of the Beatport melodic house & techno chart. On Spotify, his music reaches an audience of 625,000 listeners each month and continues to grow every week.
