"Avifaunal" is the latest album from UK based duo Pausal, the audio and visual art project of Alex Smalley and Simon Bainton. It follows previous releases on labels such as Barge Recordings, Students of Decay, Own Records and Infraction. Individually, Alex has released numerous works under his Olan Mill alias and Simon has released on Hibernate Records. 

Their music has been described as "billowing, vaporous, and cloud-like", "a shimmering haze of humid ambience and sparkling field recordings", "a colourful, yet ghostly, world of slow-moving, rejuvenating sound". Live shows are a complete immersive experience, utilising large scale visuals created by the band. They have performed across the UK and in Europe supporting artists such as Grouper, Mountains, Stars of the Lid, Chihei Hatakeyama and Greg Haines. 

In 2015 the band were asked by Martin Boulton of Touched Music to perform in Pembrokeshire, Wales and set about generating new material for the show. It was also an opportunity to develop a new equipment setup including looped turntable, voice microphones and synths. A local hall was hired for improvisation and practice sessions which provided an interesting sonic space to explore and possibilities to work at far louder volumes, both of which helped shape the eventual live set and the track "Murmuration" as that is represented here. "Spiral", "Scatter" and "Soar" were also edited and assembled from the recording sessions around this time. 

Taken as a whole, the resulting album is a diverse affair but could be said to have more in common with their heavier work to date (such as "Forms", 2012) combined with an appreciation of texture (previously evident on "Sky Margin", 2013) than the ambient material they are perhaps better known for ("Lapses", 2010 and "Along The Mantic Spring", 2014). From the crackling drone fog of "Murmuration I" and darkly psychedelic "Murmuration II" - through to the urgent percussive metallics on "Scatter" and serene synth-scapes of "Soar"; there is a wide ranging sound world here for the listener to experience and just as the title of the record suggests, they are encouraged to allow mind to take flight...

Game creator David OReilly has built an interactive world for you to explore at your choosing. Whether you decide to take the role of a microbe inside a plant in the desert, or a star in the furthermost galaxy, each layer of the game is coated with ambience which takes the simulation even further into the limitless boundaries of each world. Composers Ben Lukas Boysen and Sebastian Plano have shaped this experience with their intricate 4-hour soundscape, alongside the continuous narration by philosopher Alan Watts. 

Though the score has an important part to play in heightening the atmosphere of the game, it has the capability of being a standalone album – carefully sequenced down to a 10-track selection by label founder Robert Raths. There is a considerably therapeutic quality about it, allowing the audience to transcend into a meditative state, which is what makes it a perfect partner for Everything. The music is a whole world of its own, yet part of the game’s universe.

The German production duo JR & PH7 and New Jersey emcee trio St. Joe Louis are back with their third single "I Want It All" from their forthcoming album "Coral Cadavers".

"I Want It All" captures St. Joe Louis in nihilistic excess over some of JR & PH7's sharpest live drums. The loose narrative of the forthcoming album is brought into focus by the exploits of unrestricted desire expressed by emcee Elete Wright "I'm feeling like Q and Juice on that roof top / But keep a middle finger to the police like I'm Tupac / word to my parolees sipping codeine like a juice box / move like reality when the shrooms drop." Psychedelics use aside "I Want It All" is about the thrill of taking everything you can for granted and JR & PH7's production reminds us just how hard the fall can be.

The remixes include a guest feature by Sacramento emcee Chuuwee and another remix produced by Flip from Linz/Austria.

There have been many pretty and sorrowful pieces written for cello in recent years, yet Alder & Ash seem discontent in this mild approach, opting instead to purge the demons with a more unsettling and destructive aural palette. Not to say it’s all doom and gloom, as the moments of tension do give way to some resolve and enlightenment, but the true genius of Alder & Ash’s music lies in the balance of these extremes.

'Clutched in the Maw of the World', the second full-length album from Alder & Ash, is as much maximal as it is minimal. It punctuates periods of barren calm with thunder and screams, before creeping back to the silence and the dusk. The album is comprised entirely of cello. 'Clutched...' combines traditional classical modalities with gnarled, heavily treated modern techniques to devastating affect. Glass, wood, rain, stone and air are all present in the music, from the crystalline notes of the "Merciless Dawn" to the unyielding crashes and lumbering slabs of distorted rhythm of "A Seat Amongst God and His Children."

Alder & Ash treads on the experimental fringes of modern classical, perhaps too abrasive to play nice with the coy melodrama of the scene. Yet, the music has enough grit to take hold of lovers of doom, noise, and the like, perhaps winning over new fans of cello music from even the most hardened black metal die-hards.

Alder and Ash are not without their contemporaries, at times bringing to mind the lonesome bowed soundscapes of Warren Ellis, the calculated and darkly toned compositions of Christoph Berg, the rustic grandeur of the Montreal based label Constellation, or even the recent High Plains album on Kranky. With Alder & Ash’s penchant for unconventional rhythmics and freeform, teeth-baring experimentation one could also draw comparisons to the work of Colin Stetson.

It consists of 11 remixes of my music which had been previously released on various labels including mAtter, Basses Frequences and Infraction Records between 2010-2016. All the artists who provided a remix for 'Re:composition' had previously released music on the label Dronarivm. "The Vacation" is a fifth album by Endless Melancholy. It is a follow up to project's rather acclaimed full-length "Her Name In A Language Of Stars", released back in 2015. "The Vacation" was lovingly crafted over the span of two months, processed through the vintage reel-to-reel tape recorder for some analog warmth and received a thoughtful master from Stephan Mathieu at Schwebung Mastering studio. Wonderful artwork was created by Lita Akhmetova. The album will be released on 27 June, 2017 via Hidden Vibes (CD + digital) and ΠΑΝΘΕΟΝ (tape + digital).
