Premiere: Modeplex - Tron Fargo - Artminding

Technical and surreal elements capture the scope towards a digital end time. With Tron Fargo German gem Modeplex originates an almost dystopian opus and is questioning or even doubting the generally demanded paradise. The piece’s harmonies are carried by a warm bass base, which can also be understood as a meta-theme and therefore balances the entire composition. Exactly this contrast is typical for the artist, since it perfectly reflects his mind and aesthetics in music design.

Thanks to JAMIIE’s remix the dramaturgy of the entire release reaches another peak. The Berlin-based artist manages to loosen up the topic in an impressive way, while telling her own story about some of the most complex questions of our time. The brilliant choice of the overall groove and breakbeat-related hook perfectly conveys her optimistic perspective regarding the process of disentangling all present thoughts about dystopian futures, virtual paradises as well as deeper meanings of the - at least questionable - Metaverse.

Mark Barrott shares the third single from his upcoming soundtrack album 'Jōhatsu (蒸発)’, 'Shinrin-yoku (森林浴)’ is out now.

Mark Barrott is an artist that creatively speaking, never stops moving. His musical career has taken many forms. Some know him as Future Loop Foundation, the alias he used to create and perform ambient drum and bass from the mid-90s. Some know him for his Sketches from an Island albums, which he released under his own name, and others know him as the founder of the highly influential International Feel label, a label that spearheaded the bespoke vinyl movement of the 2010’s and brought DJ Harvey out of studio retirement. Barrott has spent close to four decades exploring new sonic territory and pushing the boundaries of various genres and is considered a pivotal figure in the revival of the Balearic music scene of the last decade.

Barrott’s new album, ’Jōhatsu (蒸発)’, is predictably unpredictable. Due for release this April on Above & Beyond’s new downtempo imprint Reflections, the album is a full departure from anything Mark has written before, partly because he was writing to moving picture. In 2019, Mark was commissioned by a director to write the score for their new documentary, ‘Jōhatsu (蒸発)... the art of Evaporation’.

‘Jōhatsu (蒸発)’ is an 8-track journey through the sounds, sights, smells and sensations of traditional and contemporary Japanese culture.

Every year, it is estimated that as many as 100,000 people in Japan vanish, without a trace. These are the so-called johatsu. The “evaporated people”. People become jōhatsu for many different reasons including addiction, divorce and job loss. While some people may consider taking their own lives, others simply… evaporate. Jōhatsu refers to these people who purposefully leave the lives they knew behind.

‘Jōhatsu... the art of Evaporation’, shadowed a Japanese man as he went through this exact process, paying a contractor to help him vanish, moving from central Kyoto to Scandinavia. Scene notes from the director and shots of Kyoto at night-time, rural Japan, and Scandinavian forest-scapes informed Barrott’s musical direction for the project. The tracks on this album are the ‘full’ pieces - those written for the longer sequences of film. 

Mark approached the whole album much like a Japanese calligrapher. He prepared the room, the paper, the brushes and the ink to make the actual act of creating as spontaneous and unencumbered as possible. Inspired by the art of minimalism and Zen, with this album he wanted to create space and simplicity while allowing room for spontaneity.

You can hear this ethos across much of the album, particularly in the piano-led tracks like 'Shinrin-yoku (森林浴)', which is Japanese for forest-bathing. The track is minimalism personified, with field recordings of rain on leaves painting an aural picture reflective of the title. 

'Jōhatsu (蒸発)' is out 17th April on Reflections. 'Shinrin-yoku (森林浴)’ is out now.

The EP opens with 'Sun Moon Lake'' takes the listener on a journey through the depths of progressive trance. The dreamy synth pads and hypnotic arpeggios create a mesmerizing atmosphere, while the driving rhythm section keeps the track moving forward with purpose. 
The build-up to the climax is expertly crafted, with the tension building gradually until the euphoric release of the main melody. 

The second track, ''Dopamina'' immediately caught my attention with its driving, big-room sound. The powerful bass line and infectious melody make it an instant dance floor hit, while the use of dynamic builds and drops keeps the energy level high throughout the entire track. 
The attention to detail in the production is impressive, with each element perfectly balanced and placed to create a truly immersive listening experience.

Overall, Carbon Fiber's EP release on Estrella Recordings is a testament to the artist's skill and talent in the progressive and trance genres. 
'Sun Moon Lake' and 'Dopamina' are both exceptional tracks that are sure to delight fans of electronic dance music around the world.

Located in the beautiful country of Croatia and somewhere between professionalism and definite hobbyist in music production, be.m1RO´s connection with all sorts of different music and styles never came unnoticed.  certain life periods, different styles were favorites, like Hardrock, pop, hip hop, and rap scene creations to some distinctive sounds like Sade, Massive, Portishead, Fluke to Prodigy, Faithless, and first electronic beats, parties, and whole EDM world.
As for music production, professional or for self-satisfaction, it is hard to pinpoint be.m1RO´s music style or genre since he´s not limited to BPM range or even on wide EDM genres.
But, in tracks mainly done for the general public, there is a dark, unknown, and progressive atmosphere that could be provocative as well as deep and emotional electronic music.The other sound elements that he´s drawn to are female vocals, strange ones, voices, vocals fx´s, and everything related. In most cases, that's the first track building block :)
One other interesting key segment in track production is his love for cinematic and Fx elements and sounds, especially from movie scores that are perfectly done for example by Hans Zimmer (Interstellar, Inception, Gladiator, Sherlock Holmes, Last Samurai, Perl Harbor....)
As for his favorite artists, the list is wide but in terms of music production, at the top of the list are certainly Township Rebellion, ARTBAT, Modeplex, OXIA, Space Motion, Moby, GMJ, D-Formation, NicolasRada, Maceo Plex...
