'Trick State Gesture' deploys classically implemented breaks, inflected very subtly with underlying squelches of synthesised bass. Gradually ascending melody builds in intensity as new layers to the song’s dimension come into play: reverb-laden tones punctuate its most intriguing moments, and lend the whole affair a genuine sense of soothing playfulness. As things approach full swing, it becomes quite clear that Design A Wave has a fantastic knack for crafting joyous, immaculately constructed and highly idiosyncratic electronic jams.

After  what  feels  like  an  unholy  passage  of  time  since  our  first  12"  release,  Discipline  is  extremely  pleased  to  announce  that  we  are  back  in  the  game  with  a  sequel  that,  while  tonally  quite  different  from  our  first,  should  be  right  up  the  alleyway  of  any  discerning  DJ  of  expressive,  forward-thinking  Drum  and  Bass  music. Antagonist's  "Cycles" is a cinematic excursion through a  carefully sequenced procession of moods,  seven and a half minutes  of  spacious, balanced dynamics,  squalling  acidic  stabs  and  sparse  percussion  punctuated  by  sharp  Amen  cuts  in  the  final  stretch.  Cycling  through  a  range  of  emotions,  the  carefully  crafted  delivery,  and  the  gradual  emergence  and  departure  of  each  theme  add  up  to  a  gloriously  coherent  statement.

Ortem 009 is the many phased work of Subminimal. Hailing from Iceland he brings us four complex, rhythmical tracks that sit perfectly together.

Data Loader Is the half time sound of fjords injected with an electrical pulse. This head nodder picks up with shakers, coconut shells and a look into a dystopian landscape.

Konl takes the reigns and gallops off with drums and percussion of a more urgent nature. There are hints of ‘Ipcress file’ and ‘Get Carter’ meshed together with techno bass, an off beat stab and bursts of rolling drums.

Austari Kælir builds with anticipation, a signpost looms from its surroundings, a solid drum keeps time, just a growl of bass, they cross a bridge, a synth line flows like the stream running under it. Its desolate, but hectic, there are mountains in the distance, there’s a presence. A craft lands in the distance.

Polyphasic opens with melancholy keys is underpinned by a rigid hi hat and round bass. Its initial drum work hints at trip hop and is complemented by chops as it rolls.
Its both fast and slow, lush but melancholic….many faces, many phases.

Exclusive Pale Blue - Breathe (Lauren Flax Remix)

Elizabeth Wight and Mike Simonetti alias Pale Blue hit us with the release of their latest track Breathe on 2MR a few days back as Elizabeth Wight refers to some of the darkest chapters of her life to come up with a brutally honest and vigorous message people out there need to hear, need to think about and need to reflect. The New Yorkers, known for raw political messages in their partly peak time music, once again deliver a catchy dramatic piece of music, whose chords not ony remain in one's ear but rather stay on your mind for a long time: in a ruthlessly honest manner. With the original composition of Breathe, a remix of Olive T and two more original tracks, namely I Walk Alone At Night and I Wallk Alone With Acid. Now Brooklyn-based producer Lauren Flax finally releases her remix approach of the track, which focusses on crystal-clear icey chords with a deep note and implements selected bits of Elizabeth's vocals. The result is a intriguing and meaningful deeply-touching and dubby approach that radiates warmth in the icy cold.

Lauren Flax's remix for Pale Blue's track Breathe will be released on 2MR on April 3rd, 2020.
