UK Techno stalwart Mark Broom returns to Rekids Special Projects with the fourth instalment of his ‘Mutated Battle Breaks’ series. 

Following the third volume of ‘Mutated Battle Breaks’ released in July 2022, the UK-based DJ/producer Mark Broom returns yet again to Radio Slave’s techno-focussed imprint for his fourth collection of essential, hard-hitting club tools. Delivering another full-blown set of eight belting tracks for the series, Broom again shows that he’s a true Techno tour-de-force. 

Releasing on labels such as Rekids, M-Plant, and Blueprint, the wildly prolific Broom has consistently been at the forefront of the techno scene for decades with his gritty, groove-based output while, away from the dancefloor, his The Fear Ratio project with James Ruskin continues to win critical acclaim.

Unrilis returns with the latest instalment in its Rilis series which features four raw and hypnotic tracks from, Sons Of Hidden.

Rilis is a classic techno series founded by iconic Italian artist Rino Cerrone before his retirement from the music industry. The series allowed him to release uncompromising tracks with experimental ideas, and the revitalised series has featured music from artists who share Rino Cerrone’s philosophy, including the likes of Ritzi Lee, Samuel L Session, A.Paul and DJ Dextro.

Sons of Hidden are a talented duo who have an analogue style with industrial percussion and driving energy. They are known for their live sets that see them play their own music in a club environment, and they have also featured tracks on influential record labels such as Suara, Illegal Alien and UTCH Records.

“Eterna Primavera” opens the release with the machine funk of its bleeping melodies and fast-paced percussion. “Anaconda” blends thrashing hi-hats with metallic textures and tribal rhythms. “Principles of Rhythm” has a menacing synth line and hypnotic vocal stabs underpinned by upbeat drum patterns, and "Crystals Heal” closes the release with dystopian pads layered with a trippy synth riff.

Luigi Madonna’s record label Contempo drops an EP by Marc Faenger that’s raw and driving techno with trippy atmosphere.
Contempo is an uncompromising record label that allows Luigi Madonna to show off the more underground side of his sound, and the new release is an imprint debut from Marc Faenger who’s a German artist that early in his career was signed to Richie Hawtin’s record label M_NUS.
Marc Faenger’s early minimal releases propelled him onto the international stage, and opened the door for him to DJ at places like Fabric, Sisyphos, Fuse and more. In the following years Marc Faenger’s tracks got tougher and more aggressive, as he moved towards up-tempo techno releases on labels such as Illegal Alien Records and his own Shed Skin.
“Opal” opens the release with retelling percussion rhythms and a booming kick drum that form a foundation for rolling industrial textures that ripple with modulation. “Triple Threat” is a percussive track with flowing percussion and tense atmosphere and rumbling sub-bass. “Zinn” is a hypnotic track with buzzing synths and juddering percussion that’s heavy enough to make the walls shake. “Probe” closes out the release with brutal percussion and gritty sound design that’s shrouded in trippy atmospherics.
