The city’s crime lord called to say, “ I’ve got a job for you.”                                                       

Income inequality. Just seeds and stems for you and me, fat fragrant buds, though, for the elite. Income inequality. No lights in tunnels do we see.
We’ve only spuds and okra to eat. 
  
“A very rich Russian is staying at the Ritz with his hot fiancee. Break in, drug Ivan, and pilfer his watch. Spirit Diane away. Tell her crime pays really well. Display my photograph. Say it’s recent, though it’s not. And say I’ll make her laugh.” 

Biily succeeded. The Russians were wed and left for their honeymoon. Billy told Belle, “We are going to be rich.” Billy, he spoke too soon. He, the band, and caterer all got royally stiffed. Penniless, our hero thought that maybe he’d shoplift.

You’ve said your peace  The vanquished warrior crawls out of sight, losing blood by the pint. Respite won’t come. The ambulances scream. Exhaustion claims those we need most.

Is there no anesthetic anyone can inject?  Is this justice poetic? Is there nothing not wrecked? 

Against our microscopic enemy we’ve little hope. Our arrogance is now exposed. God chuckles mirthlessly. The death count soars.    We clutch our pearls
 
The doctor’s face tells us heartbreaking tales. The siren wails, but its cries are in vain.

I’d walk on hot coals for you, dig holes for you, you will feel prized. I’d give up control for you. You’ve got me mesmerised.  | Every morning I’ll shave for you, behave for you and make you proud. I’ll be handsome and brave for you and chase away your clouds. 

I don’t read no glossy magazines and can’t promise that I have good genes.  Every day, though, darling by all means, you’ll feel adored.      

Darling, I’ll keep the faith for you. I’ll be your 8th and 23rd, buy bagels and squeeze fresh juice for you  before you’ve even stirred.
