Upright Music, Positive Vibes and a Packed Dance Floor. Yeah, that's what Ackrid is all about. 32 years of age, Abhishek Shankar’s alter-ego, Ackrid has been in the music industry for over 5 years now and is one of the most interesting artists in the Qatar.


Ackrid, without a doubt is one of the most versatile acts, out there. Specializing in House, Tech House and Deep House. Ackrid also loves to play various other genres such as Nu-Disco, Electro House & Progressive House. When we say Electro House & Progressive House we are not talking about the Big Room and EDM sound. Ackrid plays tracks from various non-commercial artists, giving something new to the audience, everytime.


There are really few people who use music as a weapon to bring a change. Ackrid is definitely one of them. Ackrid is one half of the duo behind the revolutionary Spirit Podcast initiative, who had managed to bring a change in impression among the young crowd when it comes to Dance Music in Doha. 
Ackrid has worked with a lot of big names such as Helium Project, WAtec (Whosane! & Anastas!a), Zaeden, Jayant/Jitter, B.L.O.T! (Basic Love Of Things), Audio Units, Praveen Achary, Tapan Raj (Midival Punditz), Jared McCulloch, Nawed Khan & maDJam. Ackrid has performed at quite a few venues in Doha and Mumbai some of them being the Sealine Beach Resort (Qatar), The Square at Intercontinental Doha The City (Qatar), Hwang at Intercontinental Doha The City (Qatar), Strata at Intercontinental Doha The City (Qatar),  Mariott Hotel (Qatar), Club Seven at La Cigale (Qatar), Club D’Illusion (Qatar), Club Ranchos (Qatar), Ibar (Mumbai, India), Local Passenger (Mumbai, India) & has held a 7 month residency at He Said She Said (Mumbai, India).


Ackrid barged into the production scene when he decided to create a bootleg remix of “Faded” by Zhu. His bootleg was supported by a lot of DJs, globally. The bootleg was also featured on QBS Radio 97.5 by Joe Mitri (QBS Radio DJ/Presenter). He also has a few mash-ups on his name. His mashups have been downloaded nearly 10,000 times on livingelectro.com. Some of his mash-ups can be found on his Soundcloud page and rest of them can be heard on his Facebook page under the free music tab.


Ackrid kicked off 2016 with a brand new track in collaboration with his mentor, DJ Jay Weather, in the form of “We Do It Better”. He has a couple more projects in the pipeline, which he is hoping to complete by the mid of 2016. In his words, “2016 is going to be the best year of my life yet”. 


When it gets to playing live, Ackrid likes to think that he holds no boundaries. His sets are usually interesting and fun! His exceptional technical skills, variety of music and that added personal touch make him stand out. He is influenced by tons of artists going to different musical styles, which also speculates in a portion of his oeuvre.

Ackrid also hosts the AckRadio podcast which usually features tracks multiple genres such as Deep House, Tech House, Nu-Disco, Future House, House, Electro House & Progressive House.
