Dublin born artist Cathal O'Briain enjoys writing original contemporary Irish Ballads and recreating old but familiar loved melodies. He sings and plays fingerstyle acoustic guitar, drawing upon aspects of human nature and history in his original songs and modernised covers of older ballads.

His upcoming album 'The 40 Foot' is a body of work from his collaboration with the legendary Producer Peter Eades who has worked with some of Ireland’s top acts such as Clannad, The Chieftains, Thin Lizzy, The Dubliners, Moving Hearts and De Danann.

I’m a songwriter first and last - not a performer. My focus is on the craft of the song itself, which is why my music has such a wide range. I don’t have one sound; I write for other voices and a vast variety of genres.

You won't find my face on a stage or my voice on a mic. My tracks aren't about building my own brand; they’re about creating a mood or a story that comes fully to life through the right singer.

For some reason, nearly all my songs (electronic/pop music with very silly lyrics) seem to be about animals or food. And considering I live in France, animals and food are essentially the same thing.
