FDN LII

This short clip was made in our home garden, with the microphone next to (almost inside) a small <i>Cotoneaster</i> bush. For a few days of peak flowering in mid-May, its tiny flowers attract swarms of bees. In this case, the visitors are mostly Honeybees, with a few Red-tailed Bumblebees mixed in.

A short recording of starling chicks being fed whilst in the nest. The starlings were nesting in a hole in the wall next to a rain pipe that ran through the building and outside. The recording was made with a Rode NTG1 mic placed on the pipe inside the building so as not to distrub the nest.  Recorded at the Orb Community Arts, Knaresborough. April 2016.

Drone Song

Two Chuck Will's Widow birds sing a night time duet across the Cypress forest and sawgrass prairie of the Big Cypress National Preserve in Florida. Recorded in April 2019 with a pair of Line Audio CM3 cardioids in NOS stereo formation, Rycote BBG wind protection, and Sound Devices MixPre 3.

Nocturnal Swamp Widows

Bats hunting over a pond in Hollen, Ostfriesland. Mainly three species: Pipistrelles (pipistrellus & nathusii) and Daubenton's bats.
Tascam DR100 @ 192 kHz, Panasonic WM-61A, Stereo AB 4 cm, baffled.
Hypass filter 20 kHz and heterodyned @41 kHz using SoX and Audacity.

Hunting bats - 2019/05/27 - Hollen Ostfriesland

Coyotes join a relaxing chorus of Great Basin spadefoots and crickets in the mountains of central Nevada.  Recorded in the Desatoya Mountains on June 4, 2019.

Second track of the wind blowing ahead of the 'Dennis' storm forecasted for tomorrow. This particular tree was hit by 'Ciara' (UK,NL) alias 'Sabine' (GER) and landed in his neighbour. The sound is different from that of the dead tree. In the third minute a Bussard flies over crying loudly. The stronger wind sounds are from a Douglas fir wood some 100 meters away.
