From 5 to 7 September 2025, I was invited to be a member of the jury for the John Cage Award competition in Halberstadt (Germany), organised by the John-Cage-Orgel-Stiftung Halberstadt, which is in charge of the Organ2/ASLSP project, a piece for organ by John Cage that designed to last 639 years and is played continuously, 24 hours a day in the Burchardi Church.

I took advantage of this wonderful opportunity to record this work at 20 different listening points for 7 minutes each.

I then used random operations with Andrew Culver's TIC and IC softwares (available on the anarchicharmony.org website) to determine sthe order of these listening points, their respective durations, the duration and the shapes of the cross-fades between these segments.

Jungle Textures: Cicadas

This is a 10-minute sound walk through a hidden concrete brutalist creation of famous architect Tadao Ando. Within the concrete walls of the Garden, visitors can find huge ceramic reproductions of a wide range of European works of art. Classics such as Michelangelo’s “The Last Judgement” tower over the location in its entirety, standing almost as tall and wide as the original. Naturally, Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” is prominently displayed, along with select reproductions of Renoir and Van Gogh. 
But what struck me was the immense sound of the different waterfalls, water basins. I wandered through all the ways with my recorder in hand. Enjoy the white sounds of water, crescendo, decrescendo and even some people talking in the background. Use headphones, it is a trip. Even my tinnitus was quiet for the time being.

A bit of a change for this one, I didn't use anything modular and didn't do everything in a single take.   However with the waves field recording, chord sequence, (technically dyads), played using a custom patch for Dreamsynth from Cherry Audio:  https://cherryaudio.com/products/dreamsynth and the footsteps at the beginning in place. 

I then recoded volume automation for those elements allowing me to live mix them with my performance using the Creature From The ID stand alone synth by Giorgio Sancristoforo: https://www.giorgiosancristoforo.net/softwares which was passed through delay and reverb effects, in place as I recorded so I could judge their effect. 

With those main elements done I added the extra footsteps and buoy bell. After listening to the Creature sounds and deciding that in places they more resembled short wave radio interference than whale song I added the Morse Code.

I went to do some field recording at a traditional Bon Odori festival. I learned that it started during the war, as a way to entertain the children who had been evacuated to that area where there wasn’t much else for them. Even in terrible times, people still found it in themselves to care for others and to begin something. And the fact that it went on to become a local tradition—that’s something truly remarkable.

Club Méditation #19 (September 2025)

Tourists taking photos, a woman coming from the Mill Residencies, a man singing, a chat about exam results, a man getting his photo taken with a baby, I’m featuring in people’s photographs, or influencing their decision not to take one, being in ‘the’ spot means that others also gravitate there, pause to get ‘the’ shot, then leave, voices of sports players drift on the wind, bicycles on the gravel, one of the cyclists singing, people waiting on the other bench getting bored waiting for me to move on so they go off in a huff, a cormorant, a light aircraft, tourists being dropped off by a Toyota EV, a man asking if the recording kit is mine, the tourists taking longer to get in the car than they were looking at the view, distant motor bikes, Moorhen, sitting on the bench in memory or Edna Cartwright, wood pigeons flitting from tree to the chimney on Willy Lott’s House, two cars, one coming in and one going out, jackdaws, the lad from the car coming in walking past and going in to Mill House, dog growling at the mic, a Kite ridind the wind.

As the world burns, fights, suffers, warms, society slowly implodes, capitalism collapses, doubles down, genocide is administered, famine engineered, drones are optimised for warfare, billions syphoned away from social needs, people exploited, trafficked, abused, killed, left to rot or fend for themselves, resources mined, the earth torn apart, extracted, refined, manufactured, advertised, marketed, sold, used, thrown away. All of that is happening right now, everywhere, except here. Here there are people making memories, sharing time together, making the most of the late warm summer afternoon, getting a glimpse of the chocolate box, the Moorhen wrestling with some weed, Willy Lott’s Cottage, of the ladies blue hair.

Sheltered, protected, preserved, presented. Sheltering me, protecting me, preserving me, presenting me, as the chocolate box? There is always a chocolate that is the least favoured, but less weight gained by not eating those.

​The high whispy clouds of this tranquil vista visible but out of reach could easily be the smoke of destruction a screen to hide the horrors behind heavens and hells are the same ideology but from the view points of the perpetrators or victims.

Willy Lott's Cottage - 6th September 2025

“Everywhere + Nowhere” is my first live album. This 2-hour set has been split into 22 distinct tracks — and as a bonus, when you purchase the album, you’ll also receive the full, continuous mix as a single file.

Now onto the heart of it: I originally prepared this live set for Hadra Trance Festival this summer. When I returned home, I recorded it in my studio. Many of the tracks have already been released—including the two remixes I created for Rhombus Index—but for me, the true gold of this album lies elsewhere: in the field recordings, the ephemeral transitions, the fragile fragments of vocals, the unfinished emotions woven throughout.

In a world that chases sleek perfection, especially with the rise of AI, I wanted to honor the imperfections—the noise, the crackles, the raw textures. No autotune. No excessive cleanup of frequencies. Just letting the elements breathe exactly as they are.

I spent many hours digging and weaving together sounds of the natural world: water, frogs, wind, fire, whispers, conversations… Sometimes these recordings soar boldly over the music, louder than I’m used to. This mix is noisier than anything I’ve ever released—but that’s exactly the point. I wanted to push myself past my own limits, to grow, and to embrace the beauty in imperfection.
